Reports to: Ramp Supervisor

The team at Cargo Service Delivery manage our global cargo services. This includes managing operations and processes and following all local regulations. Our role is to maintain the Cathay Cargo customers’ experience by ensuring their shipments can reach the destination without deviation.

This role will act as the representative and primary contact of Cathay Pacific Airways at ramp side, be responsible to ensure the highest standards of safety during ground handling of the aircraft at all times, in particular during loading and unloading of the freighter, and provide precision timing schedules in order to strive for achieving on-time performance.

The role is also required to perform freighter load control duties as a Load Controller.

Key Responsibilities

Freighter Ramp Coordinator:

To complete the final oversight and monitor of ramp handling agent to ensure ground operations are safely carried out for all jobs associated with aircraft handling in the perspectives of

Compliance and Monitoring:

Monitor and ensure the laid down procedures are carried out properly by different handling agents particularly in areas on special cargo, movement of in/ out cargo and mail units on ad hoc condition, loading, and unloading of freighter, etc.
Monitor the optimisation of space utilisation for loaded ULD and belly of freighter
Monitor the acceptance and release of such special cargo as horse shipment, engine, vehicle, bulky shipment and odd-sized item
Report to Ramp Supervisor and propose loading solution when loading instruction is not fulfilling the loading related rule

Safety related:

Ensure aircraft search as required by the Security Programme be conducted before loading
Co-ordinate the activities in the warehouse and conduct quality checks on cargo handling from Cargo Terminal Operator (CTO) and Ramp Handling Operator (RHO)
Ensure safe operations be kept at all times, in particular during loading and unloading of freighter
Ensure Freighters are loaded according to Loading Instruction Form
Complete and final oversight, by carrying out walk around check inside and outside of freighter aircraft to make sure safety is maintained at all times
Verify to the crew that loading is complete and all locks are raised and locked
Report to Ramp Supervisor when any safety incident happen

Communication and Coordination:

Maintain good communications with captain-in-command, RHO, CTO and CX Cargo Office
Liaise closely with CX Cargo Office on the most updated information of freighter positioning especially during flight disruption
Liaise and communicate with HKIA Station Control on all OTP related issue
Report to Ramp Supervisor when there is OTP related issues
Co-ordinate the activities in warehouse and conduct quality checks on cargo handling from CTO and RHO

Assessment and Problem Solving:

Solve problems and handle irregularities arisen at ramp
Act as an expertise in physical acceptance of heavy shipment to ensure CX standard is met
Assess the cause of delay of freighter and on the spot situation, report and give recommendation to Ramp Supervisor

Load Controller

To perform CX freighter load control duties according to CX standards as per Weight and Balance Folder and Cargo Services Manual

Others:

Act as supervisor whenever necessary
Perform ad-hoc duties as delegated by seniors

Requirements

Right to work in Hong Kong
Minimum age of 18
Tertiary education or equivalent experiences
Minimum 3 years’ airline experience with at least 2 years’ freighter load control experience and 1 years’ ramp experience
Sound knowledge of cargo operations including freighter ramp handling Skills and language requirements
Good analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills
A self-motivated leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Able to interact with people at all levels and from different cultural backgrounds
Sound PC knowledge in MS Word, Excel & PowerPoint
Independent & detail-oriented
Good command of both spoken and written English. Spoken and written Chinese is preferred
Must attend the ramp operational related training provided and pass the assessment by obtaining the license to carry out ramp duties
Must attend the freighter load control related training provided and pass the assessment by obtaining the license to carry out load control duties
Holder of valid HK driving licence (1 & 2/2A) with 1 year driving experience, not more than 6 points are incurred in driving offence points & no careless driving within 2 years
