ROLE SUMMARY :
- You will lead the procurement function in the Vietnam sourcing office, taking overall responsibility for vendor strategy, cost management, and supply assurance for toys products.
- You will oversee day-to-day sourcing and buying activities, drive supplier performance, ensure compliance with international and local standards, and foster close collaboration between Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, and global teams.
- This high-impact role requires a strong sourcing and manufacturing mindset, proven leadership capability, and a passion for building teams that deliver competitive cost, reliable quality, and ethical supply chains.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Procurement & Vendor Management
- Develop and implement a comprehensive procurement and sourcing strategy for Vietnam, aligning supplier performance, cost, and quality with global and regional business objectives.
- Manage the end-to-end procurement process for toys (soft and hard) and related materials, including supplier identification, RFQ, negotiation, contract management, and performance monitoring.
- Build and maintain a strong network of OEM manufacturers and factory partners, ensuring capacity, delivery reliability, and technical capability meet business needs.
- Lead cost analysis, value engineering, and cost-reduction initiatives while safeguarding quality and compliance.
- Work closely with product development, engineering, merchandising, and quality teams to ensure suppliers can meet design, safety, and timing requirements from development to mass production.
- Ensure all suppliers comply with company policies, social compliance requirements, and relevant international toy safety and regulatory standards.
- Office Operations & Team Leadership
- Oversee daily procurement and sourcing operations in the Vietnam office, ensuring effective coordination across procurement, vendor management, quality, and supporting functions.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement team focused on strategic sourcing, supplier development, and continuous improvement.
- Establish and refine work processes, controls, and reporting mechanisms to support transparent, efficient, and compliant procurement operations.
- Conduct regular supplier and internal risk assessments, audits, and reviews; identify gaps and implement corrective and preventive actions promptly.
- Partner with regional and global leadership to align Vietnam procurement objectives with overall sourcing and category strategies.
- Cross-Functional & Stakeholder Management
- Collaborate closely with supply chain, logistics, product development, engineering, and quality teams to secure smooth and efficient production and shipment flows.
- Provide procurement insights and recommendations during vendor selection, capacity planning, costing decisions, and business reviews.
- Represent the Vietnam sourcing office in regional meetings, presenting updates on supplier performance, cost trends, risk status, and sourcing initiatives.
- Act as a key liaison between Vietnam, Hong Kong, China, and other regional offices to support alignment, communication, and issue resolution related to suppliers and sourcing.
IDEAL CANDIDATES :
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of relevant experience in procurement/sourcing/buying within toys or consumer products, ideally in a sourcing office, buying office, or OEM/ODM environment.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or senior leadership role, with direct responsibility for supplier management, negotiation, and team leadership.
- Strong exposure to US or multinational companies and a solid understanding of international customer expectations, compliance, and reporting standards.
- In-depth knowledge of sourcing and manufacturing frameworks, including quality systems (e.g. ISO 9001), cost analysis, production lead times, and social compliance requirements.
- Proven track record in building and managing supplier networks, driving cost savings, and improving supplier performance in fast-paced, multi-site environments.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior management, factory partners, and internal cross-functional teams.
- Good command of written and spoken English; Vietnamese speaking is a strong advantage. Cantonese and/or Mandarin will be a plus.
- Vietnam working experience or substantial exposure to the Vietnam manufacturing and vendor landscape is highly advantageous.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Vietnam to visit suppliers and manufacturing partners and occasionally to Hong Kong and China for meetings and regional coordination.
