Salary: Disciplined Services (Officer) Pay Scale Point 5 ($40,495) to Disciplined Services (Officer) Pay Scale Point 15 ($68,720) per month.
Entry Requirements:Candidates should (a) have completed an apprenticeship or institutional training in laundry processing, textile care or linen distribution and management; and be able to furnish evidence that they have had relevant working experience in laundry operation, textile care or linen distribution and management [Note 1 under Entry Requirements]. Total period of training and working experience should not be less than 10 years; (b) have attained a level of proficiency in Chinese and English Languages equivalent to Secondary 3 standard; and be able to speak fluent Cantonese and simple English; (c) undergo and pass a trade test in laundry [Notes 2 under Entry Requirements]; and (d) have a pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test [Note 3 under Entry Requirements].
Note:
1. Candidates should specify clearly the requisite relevant experience in the application forms.
2. Only those candidates who have passed the trade test in laundry and then selection interview will be considered for appointment.
3. All applicants for civil service jobs will be assessed on their knowledge of the Basic Law and the National Security Law. A pass result in the Basic Law and National Security Law Test is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. Only those candidates who have passed the Basic Law and National Security Law Test will be considered for appointment. Duties:
A Technical Instructor (Laundry) is mainly deployed on (a) supervising subordinates in performing their duties; (b) supervising persons in custody in correctional facilities, and training and instructing those engaging in work activities of laundry trade and operation of laundry equipment or related production; (c) overseeing work processes including but not limited to washing, drying, calendaring, pressing, material estimation, quality assurance, machines and equipment operation and maintenance; (d) preparing vocational training materials and teaching related classes; (e) enforcing the Code of Practice on Occupational Safety & Health and related regulations; and (f) performing any other duties as assigned.
(Note: Subject to the provisions of the Prisons Ordinance; the appointee may be required to wear uniform, work shifts, work in remote areas and live in departmental quarters.)
Terms of Appointment:A new appointee will be appointed on civil service probationary terms for three years. Upon passage of probation bar, he/she may be considered for appointment on the prevailing permanent terms.
