(Senior) Manager - Business & Market Development

Job Summary:

This role sits within the Research & Markets team within the commercial function, and is responsible for translating market insights into actionable business development initiatives across Hutchison Ports. The role combines market analysis, planning support, cross-functional coordination, and execution, helping to identify opportunities, shape them into structured initiatives, and support their implementation across business units. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders across regions and functions to ensure that market insights are effectively applied to drive commercial outcomes and support forward planning.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Insight & Opportunity Development

Analyse market trends, customer segments, and industry developments across selected sectors
Identify areas of opportunity, emerging themes, and potential initiatives
Translate insights into business development ideas, customer- or sector-focused approaches, and commercial opportunities

2. Business Development & Planning Support

Support the shaping of priority initiatives and development plans based on market insights
Assist in structuring and refining ideas into clear, actionable proposals
Contribute to internal discussions on focus areas, prioritisation of opportunities, alignment across business units
Provide analytical and structured input to support decision-making and forward planning

3. Cross-BU Coordination & Initiative Delivery

Coordinate across business units to connect teams with shared opportunities and to facilitate collaboration and alignment
Support organisation of cross-BU meetings, workshops and working sessions
Help maintain momentum and ensure initiatives progress from concept to practical execution

4. Development of Solutions & Initiatives

Work with cross-functional teams to develop and refine initiatives
Support activities such as structured workshops, pilot initiatives with selected BUs or customers, as well as feedback collection and iteration
Assist in scaling initiatives and adapting them across different markets

5. Strategic & Cross-Functional Projects

Contribute to selected Group-level initiatives beyond specific sectors or verticals
Apply structured thinking to assess issues and opportunities, develop practical approaches and support implementation
Prepare materials and outputs to support internal alignment and decision-making

6. Stakeholder Engagement

Work closely with stakeholders across business units, regional teams and internal functions
Act as a bridge between research insights and business execution
Prepare clear, structured updates and presentations for internal audiences

Requirements:

7 years or above experience in management consulting or strategy/ commercial/ business development roles
Solid experience of working on cross-functional or multi-market initiatives
Strong analytical and structured problem-solving ability
Ability to translate analysis into practical, actionable recommendations
Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
Clear and concise communication, with experience preparing structured outputs
Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese
Exposure to logistics, shipping, or related sectors is advantageous but not required
