- Our customers are leading global outdoor and sports brands that rely on us for reliable, scalable, and quality‑assured supply‑chain solutions.
Role Mission
- To lead the design, development, and technical optimization of high‑performance plastic and metal buckles (small mechanical components) that meet rigorous mechanical, durability, and application‑specific requirements.
- The role ensures that our buckle solutions are structurally sound, manufacturable, and aligned with customer needs across diverse markets such as bags, luggage, safety harnesses, outdoor gear, medical devices, and industrial applications.
Role Summary
- Design, analysis, and optimization of plastic and metal buckles for a wide range of functional applications
- Responsible for taking new buckle concepts from sketch and specification through detailed design, validation, and production support, ensuring robustness, manufacturability, and cost‑effectiveness.
Job Description
- Design and develop plastic and metal buckle components, with a strong focus on structural integrity, durability, and functionality for end‑use applications such as bags, luggage, safety harnesses, outdoor gear, medical devices, and industrial use.
- Perform structural analysis (FEA), load calculations, and failure‑mode analysis for injection‑molded plastic parts to validate performance under real‑world conditions.
- Create detailed 3D models, engineering drawings, and tolerance specifications using 3D CAD software, ensuring clear technical communication with internal teams and external partners.
- Select appropriate engineering plastics (e.g., PA6, PA66, POM, PC, PP, etc.) based on mechanical requirements, environmental conditions, and cost targets.
- Conduct design validation through prototyping, mechanical testing (tensile, fatigue, impact, etc.), and iterative optimization to refine product performance.
- Collaborate closely with tooling engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers to ensure design for manufacturability (DFM) and smooth scale‑up to mass production.
- Improve existing buckle designs for better strength‑to‑weight ratio, user ergonomics, and cost efficiency, while maintaining or enhancing safety and reliability.
- Support product certification and compliance testing where required, including coordination with testing labs and internal quality teams.
Ideal Candidate
- Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Materials Engineering, or a related engineering field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in product structural design, with specific experience in buckles, fasteners, clips, or similar small mechanical components considered a strong advantage.
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks, UG NX, or Rhino.
- Knowledge of injection molding processes, mold design principles, and plastic material properties is preferred.
- Experience in structural analysis (FEA) using ANSYS, Abaqus, or SolidWorks Simulation is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals, including stress/strain, fatigue, creep, snap‑fit design, and locking mechanisms.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to think critically about design trade‑offs and failure modes.
- Good command of English, sufficient for technical documentation, drawings, and international collaboration.
- Willingness to work hands‑on in a fast‑paced environment, including lab and factory‑floor settings when required.
Terms & Benefits
- 5 days work : Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
- 13‑month base salary plus performance‑related bonus
- Annual leave: 12 days (1st year), 20 days (max)
- Medical insurance coverage
