Salary: HK$74,345 to HK$97,575 per month (depending on post-qualification experience)
Entry Requirements:Candidates should:
(a) (i) be qualified solicitors admitted in a recognised jurisdiction as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance and have at least 2 years' post-qualification professional experience; or
(ii) be qualified barristers with at least 3 years' professional experience since attaining the right to full practice in a recognised jurisdiction as stipulated under Section 2A and Schedule 2 of the Legal Officers Ordinance;
(b) have attained Level 3 or above both in English Language and Chinese Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE) (see Note), or equivalent;
(c) be fluent in English and Cantonese; and
(d) have experience in general advisory work and, in particular, having experience in giving legal advice on the Companies Ordinance (Cap. 622) and other ordinances under the administration of the Companies Registry will be an advantage.
Note:‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.
Duties:The successful candidate will be responsible for:
(a) giving legal advice on the Companies Ordinance and other ordinances under the administration of the Companies Registry;
(b) advising on the registration of documents and other applications under the Companies Ordinance;
(c) advising on the investigation of complaint cases; and
(d) undertaking legal research.
Terms of Appointment:The successful candidate will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms for one year. The contract may be renewed, subject to operational needs and the candidate’s performance.
Fringe Benefits (a) A gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the full contract period with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) Scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will be equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period.
(b) Rest days, statutory holidays, annual leave, maternity leave or paternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted on terms no less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
