The Department of Digital Arts and Creative Industries (DACI) is an interdisciplinary and innovative learning hub that encompasses a wide range of areas, including film and television, animation, museums and curating, art history, as well as digital arts and immersive media. We offer broad theoretical study and practical training for students seeking careers in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area's burgeoning creative and cultural industries. DACI currently offers three Undergraduate programmes, BA (Hons) Aminations and Digital Arts, BA (Hons) in Creative Media Industries and BA (Hons) in Film and Visual Arts, and two taught master programmes, MA in Creative and Media Industries (MACMI) and MA in Curating and Art History (MACAH). The needs of the Department are varied and include film production, animation, motion capture, sound recording, Mixed Reality and virtual sets. The appointee should have a high level of computational and technical literacy for general troubleshooting, learning new equipment, maintenance, and support to communicate with Full-time and Part-time instructors and vendors. The appointee will also be a liaison between the Department and University’s IT and facilities management units as well as vendors for current and future software and hardware.
Responsibilities
The appointee will be required to:
- Managing equipment stock, equipment routine check-in/out and room booking
- Providing technical support for classes, students and staff
- Providing technical support and maintenance for facilities, such as computer labs, sound studio film/video and animation production equipment, etc.
- Conducting equipment and facilities demonstration for classes and students
- Providing technical support for events and activities of the Department and
- Undertake other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Requirements
Applicants should have:
- A higher diploma or above qualification in a related discipline with relevant work experience
- Knowledge of audio/visual equipment and facilities, and maintenance of computer labs and sound studio
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn multimedia tools, including but not limited to Mixed Reality, 3D Scanning, motion capture, professional film camera, Motion Control Camera Rigs, Virtual Set Extensions (LED Video Wall), etc.
- Willingness to work occasional overtime; and
- A good command of English and Chinese (both Cantonese and Putonghua)
- Previous working experience in a university or comparable setting will be an advantage
Candidates with less/more experience will also be considered for appointment at the relevant rank.
Salary and Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund, and gratuity.
