DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure agreed rates are correctly applied to matters in accordance with engagement letters or email confirmations
- Follow up with fee earners or secretaries to obtain engagement letters
- Responsible for the monthly billing process, including ensuring the accuracy of all billing calculations, reviewing bills before finalisation, uploading invoices to the system and mailing the invoices to the clients in a timely manner
- Handle any write-offs as applicable.
- Transfer time between matters based on partner instructions
- Respond to queries from fee earners, secretaries, and clients
- Assist and support all billers within the team
- Assist in training new secretaries and billers on billing procedures
- Assist in audits as required
- Prepare reports for management upon request
- Undertake other ad-hoc tasks and projects as directed by the Senior Working Capital Manager
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- University degree in Accounting, Finance or related disciplines
- Minimum of two years' billing experience within a law firm environment is required
- Familiarity with law firm billing practices, including time recording, matter management, and client billing requirements
- Strong team player with a sense of responsibility and the ability to work independently and efficiently while remaining helpful and supportive
- Positive, proactive attitude, with a willingness to learn and develop new skills; approachable and flexible; and a strong practical approach with sound judgement
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin
