The Company

Our client is an Asian-based global bank with a strong and growing footprint across APAC. As part of an expansion of its China Corporates platform in Hong Kong, the bank is investing in senior corporate-coverage talent to deepen relationships with Mainland Chinese corporates and capture cross-border financing and transaction-banking opportunities.

The team supports China-headquartered corporates, listed companies, privately owned groups and regional subsidiaries with their Hong Kong, Greater China and wider Asia-Pacific banking requirements. Leveraging the bank's corporate-banking, investment-banking and global-markets capabilities, the platform provides clients with lending, trade and working-capital solutions, cash management, FX and hedging, capital-markets access and broader strategic financing support.

This is an opportunity to join a commercially ambitious franchise at a point of growth. The successful candidate will take a hybrid relationship-management mandate: managing and growing an existing portfolio of China corporate clients while actively originating new-to-bank relationships. They will be expected to lead senior client dialogue, identify cross-border opportunities and bring together the appropriate product specialists to deliver integrated solutions.

The Role

Manage, retain and deepen a portfolio of China corporate clients, including Mainland-headquartered groups, listed companies and Hong Kong-based regional operations.
Originate new corporate-banking relationships and develop a robust pipeline of China corporates with Hong Kong, Greater Bay Area and broader APAC business needs.
Build strategic account plans based on clients' ownership structures, expansion plans, supply chains, liquidity requirements and financing priorities.
Lead senior-level client coverage, developing relationships with CFOs, treasurers, finance directors, founders and other key decision-makers.
Identify and execute cross-selling opportunities across bilateral and syndicated lending, trade finance, cash management, working-capital solutions, FX, hedging, structured finance, debt capital markets and global-markets products.
Work closely with investment banking, global markets, transaction banking, trade finance, credit, risk, compliance and product teams to deliver coordinated client solutions.
Lead transaction origination and support deal execution, including financing structuring, credit analysis, preparation of credit proposals, internal approvals, documentation and ongoing monitoring.
Maintain strong credit discipline across the portfolio, including periodic reviews, covenant monitoring, early-warning identification and active management of account conduct.
Ensure all client activity meets internal policies, KYC/AML standards, regulatory requirements and the bank's risk-appetite framework.
Monitor China macroeconomic, regulatory, sector and corporate-market developments, using market insight to shape coverage strategy, identify opportunities and anticipate client risks.

Your Profile

Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in corporate banking, global corporate coverage or relationship management, ideally with meaningful exposure to China corporates.
Demonstrable experience managing and expanding a portfolio of Mainland Chinese corporate clients, including both relationship deepening and new-business origination.
Established network among China corporates, Hong Kong-listed companies, privately owned enterprises, regional finance teams and/or cross-border decision-makers.
Strong understanding of the banking needs of China corporates operating across Hong Kong and APAC, including cross-border lending, liquidity, trade flows, treasury, FX and hedging requirements.
Proven credit and transaction-execution capability, with experience preparing or coordinating high-quality credit submissions and navigating internal approval processes.
Comfortable engaging with product partners across transaction banking, trade finance, lending, structured solutions, investment banking and global markets.
Strong commercial judgement, ability to identify wallet opportunities and confidence leading senior client conversations.
Sound understanding of portfolio risk, account monitoring, KYC/AML obligations and corporate-banking governance.
Fluent in Mandarin and English; Cantonese is strongly preferred.
Self-directed, polished and entrepreneurial, with the ability to balance portfolio management, client retention and proactive new-business development.
