We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Part-time Research Assistant II (A&SS) (Ref: 26001V3)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will assist the Principal Investigator in the research project “Overcoming Cognitive Dissonance: Is Transcendence a More Powerful Strategy” (Project: PFDS/2025/10). The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

Assist with participant setup and physiological sensor preparation (HRV/ECG and skin conductance);
Help run experimental sessions (following established scripts/protocols) and coordinate with student helpers;
Monitor data quality and troubleshoot common equipment issues;
Support consent procedures and maintain participant comfort and safety;
Prepare and organize collected data for analysis (basic preprocessing assistance may be required);
Support experimental materials preparation and post-session data checks; and
Performing any other duties as assigned to support the operation of the research project.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

A recognized Bachelor’s in Psychology (cognitive psychology is preferred) or above;
Experience (preferred) with research studies, psychology experiments, or lab-based data collection;
Comfort working with physiological recording equipment (training provided);
Competence in online survey and statistical software (SPSS, MPlus, R, Qualtrics, E-Prime, MATLAB);
Experience in using physiological measures (e.g., HRV and EDA);
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols precisely;
Professional, reliable, and respectful demeanor with study participants; and
Ability to work independently and communicate issues promptly.

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on a temporary part-time contract. He/she will work for the period between September 2026 and May 2027. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions.
