Job Summary
The CDD/FCC Advisor role provides specialist client due diligence, financial crime risk, and policy advisory support for SME and Corporate onboarding, periodic reviews, trigger reviews, and related client lifecycle activities. The role is responsible for advising frontline, Client Management Unit (CMU), and relevant control teams on CDD requirements, risk assessment standards, documentation expectations, escalation handling, and process interpretation. The role supports the delivery of consistent, risk-based, and commercially practical CDD outcomes while ensuring adherence to applicable Group policies, procedures, regulatory expectations, and conduct standards.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy
- Support the SME and Corporate banking business model by providing clear, risk-based advisory guidance on client onboarding, review, and maintenance requirements.
- Contribute to the continuous enhancement of CDD standards, controls, and advisory practices to improve quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Promote a balanced approach between business enablement, client experience, regulatory compliance, and financial crime risk management.
Business
- Provide timely advisory support to Relationship Managers, CMU, CDD Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders on SME and Corporate CDD cases, including complex ownership, sanction escalation, adverse media, industry risk, shell company indicators, and other enhanced due diligence considerations.
- Review and advise on escalated cases, exceptions, policy interpretation queries, and risk-based documentation requirements to enable appropriate client lifecycle decisions.
- Support business teams in understanding CDD requirements and resolving advisory queries in a clear, practical, and consistent manner.
- Identify recurring themes, process gaps, and training needs arising from advisory queries and quality assurance observations.
Processes
- Apply and interpret relevant CDD, AML, sanctions, customer risk assessment, and client lifecycle procedures for SME and Corporate clients in accordance with Group and local requirements.
- Maintain effective advisory logs, case records, rationale documentation, and audit trails to support transparency, quality assurance, and regulatory review readiness.
- Support the development, review, and communication of process notes, and guidance materials for SME and Corporate, CDD stakeholders.
- Coordinate with Relationship Managers, CMU, CDD Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders to facilitate timely resolution of cases, rectification items, quality findings, and process clarification requests.
People & Talent
- Act as a subject matter resource for SME and Corporate FCC and CDD matters and support knowledge sharing across frontline, CMU, CDD Operations, Compliance, and other stakeholders.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and constructive feedback to stakeholders to improve case quality, risk awareness, and first-time-right outcomes.
- Collaborate effectively across teams and promote a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution.
Risk Management
- Identify, assess, escalate, and help resolve financial crime, conduct, compliance, and operational risks arising from SME and Corporate CDD cases and advisory activities.
- Ensure advisory guidance reflects applicable AML, sanctions, fraud, reputational risk, and customer risk assessment requirements.
- Support the timely escalation of higher-risk matters, policy deviations, control gaps, and emerging risk themes to appropriate governance forums or senior stakeholders.
- Contribute to remediation, rectification, and assurance activities where SME and Corporate CDD advisory input is required.
Governance
- Operate within applicable governance, delegated authority, escalation, and record-keeping requirements.
- Provide accurate and balanced management information, thematic updates, and advisory insights to support governance oversight and process improvements.
- Support adherence to Group, Country, Business, and Functional policies and procedures, including timely communication of relevant updates to stakeholders.

Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures, including support for policy implementation, process improvement, stakeholder training, audit or assurance requests, and cross-functional initiatives relevant to SME client lifecycle and financial crime risk management.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Law, Compliance, or a related discipline.
- Over 3 years of solid experience in FCC and/or CDD within SME and Corporate Banking.
- Knowledge of Corporate Banking operation model in complexity structure is preferable.
- Knowledge of business model in both HK and China is preferable.
- Project Management Experience and/or MI Analysis Skill is preferable.
- Not mandatory unless required by local regulatory or business requirements.
- Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, ACAMS, compliance, AML, sanctions, or risk related qualifications are preferred but not mandatory.
- Strong written and spoken English. Chinese language capability, including Cantonese and/or Mandarin, is preferred.
