Job Summary

The Senior Claims Manager is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end life insurance claims function. This role leads a small team to deliver accurate, timely, and compliant claims processing while driving operational performance, customer service quality, and continuous improvement. The role acts as a key stakeholder for internal governance, regulatory compliance, and cross-functional partners to ensure effective claims outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and manage the claims team (e.g., supervising team members, setting daily/weekly priorities, coaching and performance management).
Own claims operations for life insurance claims, including case assessment, review, approval workflows, escalation handling, and completion.
Drive performance and business outcomes by monitoring KPIs such as processing time, accuracy/error rate, claim acceptance/rejection turnaround, and customer satisfaction metrics.
Ensure compliance with regulatory and internal policies including underwriting guidelines, policy contract terms, claims procedures, and documentation standards.
Handle complex and high-risk claims end-to-end, including disputed cases, fraud/anti-abuse indicators, and legal or sensitive cases (as applicable).
Enhance claims processes and controls through continuous improvement initiatives, workflow optimization, and quality assurance programs.
Manage claims governance by conducting regular case reviews, audits/controls checks, root-cause analysis for performance issues, and corrective actions.
Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Underwriting, Policy Admin, Medical Review, Customer Service, Compliance, Legal, Finance/Actuarial) to resolve issues and improve end-to-end efficiency.
Maintain strong customer focus by ensuring timely and professional communication with claimants, beneficiaries, intermediaries, and related parties.
Prepare reports and management updates on claims performance, operational risks, quality trends, and team performance.

Job Requirements / Qualifications:

Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, Finance, or related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
Strong knowledge of life insurance claims operations and claims governance.
Proven leadership experience managing a small team and delivering measurable results.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and internal control frameworks for insurance claims (jurisdiction-specific if applicable).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Proficiency in relevant claims systems/tools and reporting.
