Role description

We are hiring a Level 1 Compliance Analyst to support the compliance operations of our payment business across Hong Kong and Singapore. This is an L1-maker role within the client onboarding and compliance review process, responsible for preparing onboarding documentation, conducting initial KYC/KYB and CDD checks, documenting screening and risk assessment outcomes, and compiling complete case files for checker or senior compliance review.

The role will focus on client onboarding, KYC/KYB documentation, customer due diligence, risk assessment preparation, screening documentation, and compliance record maintenance for individuals, corporates, merchants, partners, directors, authorised signatories, UBOs, and connected parties. The analyst is expected to ensure onboarding files are accurate, complete, and audit-ready, and to escalate documentation gaps, adverse findings, complex ownership structures, or higher-risk cases in line with internal procedures.

This role is suitable for someone with 2–3 years of experience in payments, fintech, banking, remittance, stored value facilities, money services, merchant acquiring, onboarding operations, KYC/KYB, or compliance operations. The role is maker-level and does not act as the final approver, policy owner, MLRO, or primary regulatory liaison.

Job Description

Prepare and review client onboarding documentation for new customers, merchants, partners, and business clients across Hong Kong and Singapore.
Conduct initial KYC/KYB and customer due diligence checks, including review of identity documents, business registration documents, ownership structures, UBO information, authorised signatories, directors, and supporting records.
Prepare onboarding case files, CDD/EDD checklists, customer risk assessment forms, screening records, approval packs, and other compliance documentation for checker or senior compliance review.
Perform initial sanctions, PEP, adverse media, watchlist, and internal blacklist screening, and clearly document screening results, rationale, and potential matches.
Identify missing, incomplete, inconsistent, or outdated information, and coordinate with internal teams or client-facing teams to complete onboarding requirements.
Escalate higher-risk cases, unusual business models, complex ownership structures, high-risk jurisdictions, adverse findings, potential screening matches, or incomplete documentation to the checker, L2 Compliance, senior compliance team members, or MLRO.
Maintain accurate and complete records in onboarding systems, case management tools, screening platforms, CRM systems, spreadsheets, and internal trackers, ensuring a clear maker-checker audit trail.
Support periodic reviews, trigger-event reviews, remediation exercises, customer risk-rating refreshes, and updates to onboarding records.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of experience in KYC, KYB, client onboarding, customer due diligence, compliance operations, banking operations, payments, fintech, remittance, merchant acquiring, or money services.
Working knowledge of AML/CFT, KYC/KYB, customer due diligence, enhanced due diligence, beneficial ownership, sanctions, PEP screening, adverse media, and onboarding documentation standards.
Experience preparing or reviewing onboarding files for individuals, corporates, merchants, directors, authorised signatories, UBOs, controllers, and connected parties.
Familiarity with Hong Kong and Singapore payments or financial crime compliance environments is preferred.
Ability to identify documentation gaps, inconsistent information, ownership structure issues, high-risk jurisdictions, adverse screening results, unusual business models, and cases requiring escalation.
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear case notes, onboarding summaries, screening rationales, risk assessment comments, and escalation notes.
Comfortable using onboarding systems, case management tools, screening platforms, CRM tools, spreadsheets, and internal databases.
High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, good judgment, integrity, and ability to manage onboarding queues accurately within agreed SLAs.
Exposure to KYC, onboarding, screening, transaction monitoring, or on-chain analytics tools such as Sumsub, Chainalysis, TRM Labs, Elliptic, World-Check, Dow Jones, LexisNexis, ComplyAdvantage, Actimize, or similar platforms is highly preferred.
