News reporter (Gov Contract)

Contract Period: 12 mths, Jul 2026 -

Working Hours: 10:15 - 19:03 and 14:00 - 22:48 (all including meal time), Mondays to Fridays on a roster basis

Requirement:

The Multimedia News Reporters shall have:

(a) a Hong Kong university degree, or equivalent, majoring in - journalism, or media/communication studies, or digital media, or public relations, or Chinese and/or English language studies;

(b) at least five (5) in aggregate years of experience in the writing/video reporting of - local news, or international news, or features in Chinese and/or English, in news media organisations during the past ten (10) years (from 7 May 2016 to 6 May 2026);

(d) preferably knowledge in video shooting and editing;

(e) good command of spoken Cantonese and English plus written Chinese and English;

(f) good work knowledge and news sense; and

(g) efficiency and patience to work under pressure on ad hoc projects which may require quick turnaround and multiple revisions, along with the flexibility and ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels, from operational to management

Responsibilities:

(i) to cover news events such as press conferences, briefings or any other functions as assigned - the news

events should normally be reported in both English and Chinese, and in video and/or written format, and broadcast on the same day of the event or a date as assigned;

(ii) to produce stories and features in written and video format and in both English and Chinese - the stories and features must be uploaded by the Multimedia News Reporters by using the standard template of the web content management system;

(iii) to perform the duties of a standupper and a presenter on a need basis for the news stories, features and publicity videos;

(iv) to work with and guide cameramen and film editors when carrying out their duties in video production;

(v) to work with and guide photographers when carrying out their duties in doing news stories and features; and

(vi) to carry out any other duties assigned
