Role Mission

To deliver accurate, timely and compliant payroll and staff expenses operations across multiple APAC markets, ensuring a smooth employee experience and providing reliable data to support finance and management decisions.

Role Summary

You will manage end-to-end payroll and staff expenses processes for the Asia-Pacific region, covering 1,000 headcount across China and APAC offices.
The role acts as a key regional point of contact, ensuring that payroll and expense reimbursements are handled efficiently, transparently and in full compliance with local regulations.
Reporting to the Regional Payroll Manager.

Key Responsibilities

Process end-to-end payroll for multiple APAC countries (including China), ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with local statutory requirements.
Maintain complete and up-to-date payroll records; handle payroll-related enquiries and resolve discrepancies promptly.
Work closely with HR and Finance to validate and update payroll data (new hires, terminations, transfers, salary and benefit changes, etc.).
Monitor and interpret statutory changes across APAC and implement necessary payroll system or process updates.
Prepare payroll reports, analytics and reconciliations to support internal controls and external/internal audits.
Administer and maintain the company’s staff expenses policy, ensuring consistent application and addressing employee queries.
Review, verify and process employee expense claims in line with policy and approval matrices, ensuring timely reimbursement.
Maintain and help enhance staff expenses systems and workflows to improve efficiency, compliance and user experience.
Produce staff expenses reports and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting and cost control initiatives.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to payroll and staff expenses, including accruals and reconciliations.
Assist in payroll and staff expenses system implementations, upgrades and testing as needed.
Safeguard data integrity and confidentiality across all payroll and staff expenses processes and documentation.

Ideal Candidate

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a related discipline.
3–5 years of solid hands-on experience in payroll processing within the APAC region (preferably including China).
Good working knowledge of payroll regulations, tax rules and statutory requirements in key APAC markets.
Demonstrated experience managing staff expenses programmes, including policy enforcement and system administration.
Proficient in payroll platforms and staff expenses tools.
Strong Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and pivot tables.
Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional and cross-cultural teams.
