Description

As a Display Characterization Engineer, you will play a critical role in developing and executing advanced metrology and characterization of microLED-based micro-displays used in AR systems. You will perform calibration, measurement, and analysis of the optical, optoelectronic, and electrical transport properties of microLED devices and micro-display modules. This role involves hands-on work with wafer-level probers and gantry-based measurement systems. It spans a broad range of techniques, including semiconductor wafer-based optoelectronic measurements, L-I-V testing, imaging, EQE, optical power measurements, spectroscopy, colorimetry, photometry, and full micro-display module-level characterization. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams to drive performance, yield, and product readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Perform display measurements, including pixel-level Demura, gamma correction, color and luminance uniformity, MTF, contrast ratio, and color-gamut characterization for micro-displays.
Conduct wafer-level semiconductor metrology (AOI and ATE) to characterize the optical, electrical, and optoelectronic performance of micro-LED display devices.
Collect, process, and analyze large-scale device and display data to extract key performance metrics and drive process-integration feedback and yield improvement.
Perform optical microscopy, spectroscopy, and imaging metrology to evaluate pixel-level uniformity and detect defects.
Conduct IV, LIV, EQE, efficacy, power, optical, and optoelectronic measurements using instruments such as source meters, integrating spheres, spectrometers, optical sensors, and power meters.
Calibrate and maintain test equipment to ensure accuracy, repeatability, and compliance with GR&R (Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility) standards.
Perform statistical data analysis using Python, MATLAB, or JMP.
Document procedures, write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Job Aids, and drive continuous process improvement.
Available to travel internationally up to 20% of the time.
Foster a culture of teamwork, knowledge-sharing, and continuous learning, actively contributing to joint problem-solving and collaborative project execution.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, optics, or a related field.
Hands-on experience operating semiconductor wafer probers for electrical and optoelectronic device characterization.
Familiarity with optical and optoelectronic characterization techniques for microLED/LED devices.
Hands-on experience with display metrology including pixel-level Demura, gamma correction, color and luminance uniformity, MTF, contrast ratio, and color-gamut characterization for high-performance displays.
Basic understanding of semiconductor and optoelectronic device physics.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Professionally fluency in both Mandarin and English
A proactive, curious mindset and enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced startup culture.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree (MS or PhD) in Engineering, Physics, Optics, or a related discipline.
Coursework or project experience in microLED/LED and display technologies.
Experience with wafer-level or module-level test systems.
Knowledge of color science, photometry, and optical metrology principles.
Strong hands-on experience with optical microscopy and imaging systems for high-resolution inspection and analysis.
Knowledge of display technologies and AR/VR display optics.
