Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) / Chief Technical Officer (CTO), the Biomedical Scientist will lead the company's research and development initiatives in protein science. This role focuses on the design, synthesis, and analysis of novel biological protein molecules to support the development of innovative products (e.g., therapeutics, diagnostics, or industrial enzymes). The successful candidate will ensure the scientific integrity of the company's product pipeline while maintaining strict compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Protein Molecular Design: Conduct computational and structure-based design of novel protein molecules (e.g., antibodies, enzymes, or binding proteins) or nanostructures with functional interfaces to achieve desired functional properties.
Protein Synthesis & Engineering: Perform or oversee the expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant proteins in various host systems; apply protein engineering techniques (e.g., directed evolution, rational design) to optimize protein performance; interpret optical data for design optimization. Protein Bioinformatics Analysis: Analyze protein sequence-structure-function relationships using bioinformatics tools; interpret biophysical and biochemical data to guide iterative design cycles; optimize surface chemistry for biomolecular detection.
Regulatory & Compliance: Prepare scientific documentation and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to support product registration (e.g., with the FDA, CE, or NMPA); ensure all laboratory practices comply with local and international biosafety and bioethics regulations.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with downstream teams (e.g., assay development, formulation) to ensure successful translation of protein candidates into final products.
Literature Review & Innovation: Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in protein science, synthetic biology, nanophotonic and biosensing, and regulatory guidelines; propose new research directions to strengthen the company's intellectual property portfolio.
(If applicable) Laboratory Management: Maintain laboratory equipment, manage reagent inventories, and ensure a safe and compliant working environment.

Required Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Physics, Materials Science, Nanophotonic, or a closely related field.
Hands-on experience in nanomaterial engineering, surface functionalization, and optical characterization for biomedical sensing and imaging applications, demonstrated by a strong publication record or relevant industry projects.
Experience with advanced optical characterization platforms relevant to biomolecular interaction analysis, such as surface plasmon resonance (SPR)-based sensing, circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, and fluorescence microscopy.
Strong bioinformatics skills related to protein sequence analysis, structure prediction, and molecular dynamics simulations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; proficiency in Cantonese and/or Mandarin is preferred for liaising with local stakeholders and supply chains.

Familiarity with interdisciplinary collaboration involving biological and biomedical applications, with demonstrated interest in applying nanophotonic tools to biosensing, molecular detection, and diagnostic reagent development.
