THE CHINESE MEDICINE HOSPITAL OF HONG KONG

The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong (CMHHK) is a flagship Chinese medicine(CM) institution leading the development of CM including Chinese medicines (CMs) in Hong Kong. The CMHHK adopts a public-private partnership model. The HKSAR Government has financed the construction and selected the Hong Kong Baptist University as the contractor to incorporate the HKBU Chinese Medicine Hospital Company Limited as the operator to manage, operate and maintain the CMHHK.

The CMHHK is targeted to commence hospital services by phases at the end of 2025. The CMHHK aims to offer comprehensive CM care, ranging from primary, secondary to tertiary services, and promote advanced and specialised CM services. The CMHHK will pioneer integrated Chinese-western medicine (ICWM) services to cater to different patient needs. Inpatient, day-patient, and outpatient treatments and also community services will be offered by the CMHHK. Both Government-subsidised services and add-on market-oriented services will be provided to ensure accessibility and to meet the diverse healthcare needs of the community.

With a view to prioritising education, training, innovation and research, including collaboration with local and overseas universities to advance evidence-based clinical research and develop CM theories and clinical applications, the CMHHK is now looking for the following talent to join our team.

The CMHHK planning comes to commission stage II (Jan 2024- Dec 2025). During this stage, the Chinese Medicine(CM) Division in CMHHK starts to design the details of protocols for its clinical service, training, research and public promotion. The CM Division requires the following positions in commission stage II to support the evidence-based protocol drafting in the area of CM, ICWM services, training and research; to support the IT and application designs related to operations; and to coordinate the promotional campaign so as to increase public awareness of the missions of CMHHK and spread the CM culture in the community.

Responsibilities:

Lead a research administration team as the Central Administrator of the International Consortium of Herb Drug Interaction (ICHDI);
Oversee, supervise and monitor the implementation and operation of the ICHDI and Hong Kong platform;
Devise a systematic administration mechanism for consolidating, evaluating and cross-validating relevant scientific results and findings, and related documents and information contributed by the member organisations of ICHDI and Hong Kong platform;
Engage and maintain close liaison with the member organisations of ICHDI and Hong Kong platform by hosting regular meetings and report the collaboration progress to relevant bodies;
Set up long-term plan for promoting sustainable development, updating, dissemination and implementation of herb-drug interaction (HDI) clinical practice guideline (CPG) locally and internationally;
Design and conduct training curricula and workshops on HDI CPG for clinicians and researchers locally and internationally;
Manage and oversee the ICHDI initiatives including international meetings, workshops, conferences and seminars to disseminate research findings and engage with global stakeholders;
Host and organise the inauguration of the ICHDI and annual conference for HDI;
Monitor the project progress and the completion of the deliverables amongst member organisations;
Prepare and review documentation including meeting papers and reports;
Cultivate collaborative research and grant proposal application related to HDI amongst member organisations; and
Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

Applicants should possess a PhD in Toxicology, Epidemiology, Chinese Medicine, Pharmacy in Chinese Medicine, or other background including Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Biostatistics or healthcare-related disciplines;
At least 7 years of post-doctoral working experience in research administration, research, teaching and training with relevance in the fields of toxicology, clinical research or clinical practice guidelines development;
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in organising international consortiums and conference;
Preference will be given to candidates with solid skills in clinical practice guidelines development, as well as its dissemination and implementation;
Excellent interpersonal communication and scientific presentation skills are required;
Organised, self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team;
Good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Putonghua);
The initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of up to two to three years; and
Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Work location: The Chinese Medicine Hospital of Hong Kong in Tseung Kwan O.
