THE ROLE
Director of Sourcing, Activewear
We are seeking a Sourcing Director to join our growing team. This team will will develop and lead the end-to-end supply chain and sourcing strategy for the Activewear category (Women’s & Men’s Active, performance knits, leggings, sports bras, outer layers, and technical essentials). This role will drive a resilient multi-sourcing model, accelerate speed-to-market, and deliver margin-accretive growth in a fast-paced D2C environment.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the global sourcing strategy for Activewear, ensuring diversified factory partnerships across APAC, South Asia, and other key regions to build long-term supply chain resilience.
- Identify, onboard, and scale high-performing manufacturing partners aligned with a rapid replenishment, M2C (Manufacturer-to-Consumer) operating model.
- Educate and embed partners into the company’s Operating System (OS)
- Drive performance against critical KPIs
- Partner closely with Merchandising and Product Development (PD) to enable catalog expansion—leveraging mill and factory capabilities to innovate on fabric, performance features, and cost engineering.
- Lead fabric and material strategy for performance categories (technical knits, compression fabrics, moisture-wicking, sustainable blends), optimizing local material sourcing and mill relationships.
- Conduct structured Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with senior leadership at key vendor partners, focusing on strategic alignment, capacity planning, performance improvement, and long-term capability building.
- Apply clean-sheet costing methodologies and advanced negotiation strategies to drive continuous cost savings without compromising quality or performance.
- Champion process optimization, digital adoption, and AI-enabled tools across sourcing and vendor management workflows.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of Director-level experience in Strategic Sourcing, Procurement, or Supplier Management within apparel—preferably supporting major US-based retailers or D2C brands.
- Deep global factory network within Activewear categories (performance knits, seamless, compression, technical outerwear), across APAC, South Asia, and EMEA.
- Strong product acumen with the ability to leverage factory and mill expertise to co-create, cost engineer, and commercialize performance-driven products.
- Deep knowledge of performance materials, fabric innovation, and regional mill ecosystems.
- GM mindset with strong supply chain and manufacturing background (Lean, JIT, rapid replenishment models).
- Advanced costing expertise with the ability to break down cost drivers, execute clean-sheet analysis, and deploy effective negotiation strategies.
- Highly analytical, execution-focused, and detail-oriented; proven ability to solve complex supply chain challenges and scale processes.
- Curious, adaptable, and growth-oriented leader who thrives in ambiguity and continuous change.
- Business-savvy and technology-forward; comfortable leveraging digital systems and AI to enhance sourcing performance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong stakeholder management capability across cross-functional and executive teams.
All posted ranges are reflective of base salary and may vary depending upon experience level and location. Bonus and equity may also be provided for eligible roles.
Pay Range: $1 USD - $1 USD
