Our client is a well-established venture capital investment platform with a strong presence across Asia. The firm invests in high-growth companies across technology, innovation-driven sectors, and emerging business models, with a focus on identifying scalable opportunities and supporting founders throughout their growth journey.

They are now seeking an experienced Executive Director to join their investment team. This is a senior role focusing on venture capital deal sourcing, investment execution, portfolio engagement, and market coverage across the regional start-up and innovation ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

Deal Sourcing & Market Coverage

• Originate and source high-quality venture capital investment opportunities across relevant sectors, including technology, digital economy, consumer, fintech, healthcare, enterprise solutions, and other high-growth areas.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with founders, entrepreneurs, co-investors, accelerators, family offices, corporates, and other ecosystem partners.

• Develop a deep understanding of market trends, sector dynamics, competitive landscapes, and emerging investment themes across Asia.

• Represent the firm externally at industry events, start-up forums, investor meetings, and founder discussions.

Investment Evaluation & Execution

• Lead the end-to-end investment process, including initial screening, business analysis, financial assessment, due diligence, valuation, investment structuring, and transaction execution.

• Prepare investment memoranda, market mapping, financial models, valuation analysis, and recommendations for the Investment Committee.

• Assess business models, founder quality, product-market fit, growth potential, unit economics, competitive positioning, and exit prospects.

• Work closely with legal, finance, external advisors, and internal stakeholders to manage transaction documentation and closing processes.

Portfolio Management & Value Creation

• Maintain active engagement with portfolio companies and support founders on business strategy, fundraising, market expansion, governance, and operational matters.

• Monitor portfolio performance, key business metrics, financial progress, and strategic milestones.

• Identify follow-on investment opportunities and support portfolio companies in future financing rounds.

• Provide market insights, investor introductions, commercial connections, and strategic support where appropriate.

Leadership & Internal Contribution

• Mentor junior investment professionals and support the development of internal investment capabilities.

• Contribute to fund strategy, sector research, investment thesis development, and broader platform initiatives.

• Work closely with senior management and partners on capital deployment strategy, investor updates, and portfolio review discussions.

• Uphold a high standard of investment discipline, risk assessment, governance, and professional judgement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline; MBA or relevant postgraduate qualification is a plus.

• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in venture capital, private equity, corporate venture capital, investment banking, strategic investment, or start-up investment-related roles.

• Proven track record in sourcing, evaluating, executing, and managing venture capital or growth investment transactions.

• Strong understanding of the start-up ecosystem, technology trends, founder evaluation, investment structuring, and portfolio management.

• Solid financial modelling, valuation, due diligence, investment memo writing, and transaction execution skills.

• Strong network across founders, investors, ecosystem partners, and innovation communities in Asia.

• Commercially minded, entrepreneurial, analytical, and able to balance strategic vision with rigorous investment discipline.

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Mature, self-driven, and capable of operating independently in a senior investment capacity.

• Fluency in English is required; Cantonese and/or Mandarin would be an advantage.
