GCB 4
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as a Voice Channels and Conversational Banking VS Data Product Owner.
In this role you will:
1) Value Stream Design Leadership & Delivery
- Oversee multiple product design programmes across the four pillars, providing strategic direction and quality oversight across design leads and their teams.
- Maintain accountability for delivery health, team performance, and measurable outcomes in complex and ambiguous environments.
- Set direction while staying connected to the work—shaping product decisions and ensuring high-quality design delivery across the full product lifecycle (from concept to execution).
- Ensure strategic recommendations become tangible through clear product visions, prototypes, and shipped experiences, leveraging AI to accelerate and enhance delivery.
- Develop and maintain prototypes and patterns that improve scalability and consistency across voice and chat experiences.
2) Stakeholder & Partner Management
- Build and sustain senior stakeholder relationships, acting as a decisive voice on high-stakes engagements and creating trust that enables long-term partnership.
- Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leadership to align design investment with product priorities—supporting scope, sequencing, and trade-off decisions.
- Translate design intent and user needs clearly for varied audiences (engineers through to senior leadership), aligning stakeholders with business rationale.
3) User-Centred, Data-Informed Design
- Drive rigorous problem framing across the portfolio—helping teams navigate ambiguity, constraints, and trade-offs.
- Use data-driven insights, user research, and continuous testing to inform design decisions and iterate based on feedback.
- Engage with customers and frontline stakeholders (e.g., service, operations, sales where relevant) to gather insights that inform design improvements.
4) People Leadership & Practice Development
- Manage and develop a team of product designers across one or more product areas: set expectations, run regular 1:1s, provide honest feedback, and build individual growth plans.
- Own the quality of design output: review work, lead critiques, and ensure what ships meets the standard—not just the deadline.
- Build inclusive, high-performing teams with psychological safety and clear accountability, supporting designers to grow into stronger leaders over time.
- Champion design system adoption and ensure teams contribute patterns and learnings back to strengthen the broader system.
5) AI-Enabled Design Leadership
- Build AI into team practices as a standard way of working (not a one-off initiative), improving speed and quality of delivery.
- Coach designers on quality judgement when using AI tools—where AI accelerates work vs. where it creates generic output—and how to maintain craft standards regardless of how work is produced.
- Contribute to evolving ways of working by capturing and scaling new practices, especially where AI is reshaping product design workflows, delivery, and outcomes.
To be successful you will need:
- Typically 6–10 years of product design experience.
- At least 2 years in a people management role leading designers (enterprise and/or B2B SaaS environments).
- Demonstrable experience leading design across multiple teams/programmes and delivering end-to-end product experiences.
- Strong design craft and judgement: able to recognise great work, set quality bars, and coach others towards them.
- Deep UX/UI expertise with a focus on intuitive, scalable experiences (including patterns, prototypes, and consistency).
- Proven ability to build and maintain high-performing teams (hiring, onboarding, development, performance management).
- Ability to balance people leadership with delivery—shipping quality work on time without sacrificing team growth.
- Strong project/programme oversight across multiple concurrent initiatives.
- Clear, strategic communication: align stakeholders, present progress to leadership, and advocate for design investment with business rationale.
- Confident senior partner who can operate as the decisive voice in high-stakes situations.
- Practical AI fluency applied to both product experiences and design workflows.
- Ability to set standards for AI-assisted design and maintain craft integrity through critique and review.
- Proficiency with modern design tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) to translate ideas into high-quality outputs.
- Strong problem-solving under pressure; able to navigate ambiguity and make sound trade-offs.
- Empathy and user focus—designing experiences that resonate emotionally and functionally for customers and colleagues.
