The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an accomplished senior HR leader to take on a highly visible leadership role across Mainland China and Hong Kong.

Sitting at the intersection of business partnering, people strategy and HR transformation, this role will work closely with the CHRO, senior business leaders and HR leadership teams to shape how the organization attracts, develops, rewards and engages its people.

The position offers a broad leadership mandate. Depending on your background, you may have developed your career as an HR Director with responsibility across multiple HR disciplines, or as a senior HR Business Partner/People Partnering leader working closely with business leadership. Both backgrounds are highly relevant.

What matters most is your ability to understand the business, influence senior stakeholders, bring different areas of HR together, and translate organisational priorities into practical people solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with the Chief Human Resource Officer and senior business leaders to shape and execute the people strategy across Mainland China and Hong Kong (over 12K employees).
Lead and strengthen the HR Business Partnering/HC Business Partnering model, ensuring a consistently high standard of support across business lines.
Act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership on workforce strategy, organisational priorities, talent, leadership, performance and people-related business decisions.
Connect business needs with specialist HR capabilities, working across areas such as: Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning, Total Rewards and Performance, Learning and Development、Organizational Development、Employee Experience、People Operations、HR Technology and Analytics
Translate business strategies into clear and actionable workforce and people plans.
Lead major HR transformation initiatives, including HR operating model evolution, process digitalisation, organisational change and new ways of working.
Drive workforce planning and talent strategies that ensure the organisation has the capabilities required for both current operations and future growth.
Contribute to the evolution of performance and reward frameworks, including new approaches to skills, capabilities and workforce segmentation.
Work closely with HR and business leadership teams to identify operational challenges, remove barriers and improve the effectiveness of HR service delivery.
Use people data, analytics and technology to support better workforce decisions and improve HR efficiency and employee experience.
Support organisational and cultural transformation, helping create an environment that encourages strong performance, collaboration and continuous development.
Provide leadership and direction to HR teams and senior HR professionals across Mainland China and Hong Kong.
Ensure HR practices and initiatives operate within appropriate governance, employment law, data privacy and regulatory requirements.

Who We Are Looking For

Our client is interested in senior HR leaders who have built their careers through either of two routes:

You may be an established HR Director / Head of HR who has led broad HR functions and is accustomed to managing multiple HR disciplines.

Alternatively, you may be a highly experienced HR Business Partnering / People Partnering leader who has worked directly with senior business leadership, led significant HR teams or programmes, and is ready to take on a broader enterprise-level people leadership mandate.

In either case, you are likely to bring:

Approximately 20+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
Strong experience working with senior executives and translating business strategy into people and organisational priorities.
A sophisticated understanding of HR business partnering and how specialist HR functions work together to support the business.
Experience leading complex HR transformation, organisational change or operating-model initiatives.
Strong knowledge of areas such as workforce planning, talent management, organisational development, performance and rewards.
Experience operating in a sizeable, complex or matrixed organisation.
Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance strategic thinking with practical execution.
The credibility and influencing skills required to challenge, advise and partner with senior stakeholders.
Experience working across Mainland China and Hong Kong, or within similarly complex regional environments.
Fluent Mandarin and English, with the ability to operate confidently with stakeholders in both languages.

Particularly Relevant Backgrounds

Experience within professional services, financial services, management consulting, Big Four or another sophisticated matrixed organisation would be particularly relevant, although candidates from other complex multinational environments may also be considered.

Exposure to any of the following would also be advantageous:

Enterprise-wide HR transformation
HR operating-model redesign
Workforce and capability planning
Skills-based performance or rewards models
HR digitalisation and automation
AI-enabled HR processes
People analytics
SAP SuccessFactors or similar HR technology platforms

The successful individual will have meaningful influence over how the organisation develops its HR model and people strategy across Mainland China and Hong Kong during an important period of transformation.
