Business Banking

Hang Seng’s Commercial Banking business provides customized one-stop financial solutions to our corporate customers, from prime small and medium-sized businesses to publicly listed companies.

For customers conducting business locally or around the world, we offer a comprehensive range of services including corporate lending, trade and receivables finance, structured loan, cash management, investment, treasury services, insurance and e-Banking services. As a reliable financial partner, we attend to the specific business needs of our customers and provide efficient tailor-made banking solutions through our relationship managers and dedicated specialists.

We are currently seeking a high caliber professional to join our team as SVP, CDD Approval, Business Banking.

Principal responsibilities

Oversight of risk controls and frameworks, ensuring their ongoing effectiveness and timely identification of potential risks.
Lead the team to ensure business referrals are appropriate and compliant with internal and external requirements through effective control measures.
Take overall ownership of CDD controls and non-financial risk management, balancing risk management, business objectives, and operational efficiency. Proactively identify control gaps, escalate issues, and drive improvement initiatives.
Lead and steer a team of CDD Approval Managers in the approval on new-to-bank account opening applications for BBD portfolio-managed segment to ensure compliance with the Group and the Bank’s policy, procedures and appetites.
Provide advisory support on complex cases or risk control related projects, ensuring all potential financial crime risk concerns are properly addressed and documented.

Requirements

University degree in Finance and Accounting, Finance, Economics, Banking, Business Management and related discipline
Proven years of working experience in the banking industry with focus on commercial banking and good understanding of Know Your Customer (KYC) regulatory requirements on corporate customers. Portfolio management experience in commercial banking is an advantage.
Proven leadership experience in leading, coaching, and developing a team of professionals, with the ability to motivate and manage performance across the team.
Strong ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and stakeholders, building effective networks both internally and externally to drive collaboration and achieve business outcomes while maintaining robust CDD controls.
Skilled decision-maker with strong analytical judgmental, and problem-solving abilities, capable of making considered and timely decisions under pressure while maintaining high standards of output.
Excellent written and spoken communication skills, including experience in influencing senior stakeholders, negotiating effectively, and delivering compelling presentations.
Great sense of ownership, proactive mindset, and strong servicing orientation to ensure effective CDD processes and deliver exceptional quality services for customers.
Professional qualifications such as Enhanced Competency Framework (ECF) and/or Certified Banker (CB) under Hong Kong Institute of Bankers (HKIB) would be an advantage.
