Summary

The PACS portfolio includes physical access control systems, RFID credentials and readers, mobile access solutions, biometric authentication, controllers and edge devices, cloud-based access management platforms, and identity convergence solutions.
The Sales Engineering team provides technical expertise to support sales account managers, channel partners, consultants, system integrators, and end users. This Level 2 role is calibrated to provide mid-level customer-facing sales engineering support with increasing independence on standard opportunities and collaborative support for complex strategic projects.
Position Overview
Reporting to the Sales Engineering Director based in Hong Kong, the role supports Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, and other North Asia / Asia Pacific markets as assigned.
The role requires customer-facing activities, technical presentations, demonstrations, workshops, proof-of-concepts, partner enablement, tender support, and collaboration with sales, product management, engineering, technical support, consultants, distributors, system integrators, and strategic customers.
As our PRE- SALES ENGINEER , you’ll support HID’s success by:
Sales Support and Solution Consulting
- Support account managers and channel partners in qualifying opportunities and progressing customer discussions.
- Conduct requirement discovery for standard opportunities and document customer needs clearly.
- Prepare and present solution recommendations using established HID architectures and best practices.
- Support technical discussions on access control, credentials, readers, controllers, mobile access, cloud connectivity, and identity-related solutions.
- Escalate complex solution design topics to senior Sales Engineering resources when required.
Technical Presentations and Demonstrations
- Deliver product presentations and standard demonstrations to customers, partners, and consultants.
- Maintain demo equipment and assist in preparing demo environments for events and customer meetings.
- Support trade shows, partner events, customer seminars, and internal enablement sessions.
Partner and Customer Enablement
- Provide technical training for system integrators, distributors, consultants, and end users using approved materials.
- Support partner onboarding and help partners understand HID solution positioning and technical requirements.
- Share best practices and practical deployment guidance with partners and customers.
Tender and Project Support
- Assist with RFIs, RFPs, tenders, compliance matrices, and technical proposal content.
- Review standard system designs and identify gaps, risks, or follow-up questions.
- Support proof-of-concept and pilot activities under the guidance of senior engineers for complex projects.
Technical Escalation and Field Feedback
- Respond to pre-sales technical questions and route unresolved issues through appropriate support channels.
- Collect customer feedback, competitive information, and field requirements and share them with Sales Engineering leadership.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Product Marketing, Engineering, and Technical Support as required.
Your Experience and Background include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or another related technical discipline.
- Equivalent industry experience may also be considered where appropriate.
- Typically 2-4 years of experience in pre-sales engineering, technical consulting, systems engineering, application engineering, technical support, or security technology solutions.
- Experience in physical security, access control, low voltage systems, identity solutions, mobile credentials, or related technology is preferred.
- Able to independently manage standard technical engagements and collaborate with senior engineers on complex customer or tender requirements.
Technical Skills
Mandatory: Computer and Network Fundamentals
- Strong foundational computer and networking skills are a MUST.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.
- General IT troubleshooting capability and ability to support customer-facing technical discussions.
- Basic database knowledge; SQL knowledge is preferred.
- Understanding of TCP/IP, switching and routing fundamentals, VLAN, DHCP, DNS, VPN, and network security basics.
- Familiarity with REST API fundamentals and cloud connectivity concepts is preferred.
Preferred Security Technology Knowledge
- Access control systems, CCTV, intrusion detection, fire alarm, intercom, visitor management, parking systems, BMS, or PSIM.
- API-based integration, cloud-to-cloud integration, third-party system integration, or building subsystem integration.
Language Requirements
- Fluent Cantonese, Mandarin Chinese, and English are mandatory, both spoken and written.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly with customers, partners, and internal stakeholders.
- Additional language capability is a plus, including but not limited to Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, or Bahasa Indonesia.
Work Requirements
- Must be legally eligible to work in Hong Kong SAR.
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid passport.
- Must be able to travel throughout Asia Pacific as business needs require.
- Expected regional travel requirement is approximately 20-30%.
- Must comply with all HID policies related to Quality, Security, Safety, Business Continuity, and Environmental Management.
- Must be capable of working effectively in customer, partner, office, and remote working environments.
