Wall Street English Hong Kong is looking for an experienced Human Resources Business Partner to help us build, engage, and retain a high-performing workforce. This role is the strategic and hands-on HR lead for Wall Street English in Hong Kong, owning the full local HR remit: talent acquisition, talent management, employee experience, employee relations, and HR operations.
Reporting to the General Manager (dotted line to the VP Human Resources), the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) acts as the trusted advisor to the Hong Kong leadership team, translating business priorities into people plans that engage, develop, and retain a high-performing workforce.
The successful candidate will bring particular strength in employee experience and talent management, alongside solid generalist HR skills and a deep understanding of the Hong Kong employment landscape.
What You'll Do
Employee Relations and HR Operations
- Act as the first point of contact for employee relations matters in Hong Kong, handling cases with discretion, fairness, and sound judgment.
- Manage the monthly payroll process end to end, working with the centers to ensure accuracy and liaising with finance for sign-off and payment.
- Ensure full compliance with the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance and all applicable statutory requirements, including MPF, statutory leave, and working hours.
- Own core HR operations for the market, including contracts, onboarding, HRIS data integrity, and policy administration.
- Advise managers on performance management, disciplinary processes, and change management in line with local law and company policy.
- Partner with regional and global People & Culture teams to ensure local practices align with global frameworks and standards.
Talent Management
- Own the design and delivery of talent management programs for Hong Kong, including performance calibration, development planning, and succession bench-building for critical and high-turnover roles.
- Partner with local leaders to map critical roles and put proactive readiness and succession plans in place.
- Identify and nurture high-potential employees, championing internal mobility and career pathways ahead of external hiring where appropriate.
- Build and maintain an internal and external talent pool to support the market's growth plans.
- Analyze attrition and talent data to identify risk positions and address pipeline gaps before they become business-critical.
Employee Experience
- Own the design, delivery, and analysis of the annual engagement survey and pulse-check programs for Hong Kong.
- Translate survey insights into actionable, prioritized plans in partnership with local leadership.
- Track the implementation and effectiveness of engagement action plans, ensuring accountability at team and leadership level.
- Identify trends across teams and functions, providing clear reporting and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Champion a consistent, positive employee experience across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through offboarding, with sensitivity to local market culture.
- Design and implement local engagement initiatives that positively impact motivation, retention, and employee wellbeing.
Talent Acquisition
- Own end-to-end recruitment for Hong Kong, from workforce planning through offer acceptance.
- Lead local employer brand initiatives to position the company as an employer of choice in the Hong Kong talent market.
- Design and continuously improve candidate experience across all stages of the recruitment funnel.
- Build and maintain proactive sourcing pipelines for critical and recurring roles, reducing time-to-fill and reliance on reactive hiring.
- Partner with hiring managers to translate workforce plans into effective hiring strategies.
- Define and track recruitment KPIs, using data to drive decisions and report progress to leadership.
What You'll Need
Minimum Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive HR generalist or business partner experience, ideally within Hong Kong or Greater China.
