We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the School of Arts and Social Sciences:

Part-time Research Assistant II (Tin Ka Ping Centre of Chinese Culture)

Major Duties and Responsibilities

The appointee will mainly assist Tin Ka Ping Centre of Chinese Culture of the School of Arts and Social Sciences. The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:

Assisting in publication-related work, including editing, proofreading, and reference checking to ensure accuracy and consistency;
Conducting preliminary research for the project and assisting in data collection, data analysis, and related research activities;
Preparing and coordinating the interview arrangements and logistics;
Providing support to the office administration, coordination, and liaison with internal and external parties at various levels;
Providing general support to the daily operations, including programmes, projects, and activities carried out by the Centre; and
Performing any other duties as assigned.

Candidates

Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:

A recognised degree or above, preferably in Chinese Language, Chinese literature, English Language, Translation, or a related discipline;
Strong ability and knowledge of Modern Chinese literature, Classical Chinese literature, and ancient Chinese culture;
Strong organisational and planning skills, good interpersonal and communication skills, and competent at computer skills (MS Office using Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.) as well as editing skills;
Preferably have experience in data analysis, research work, and publication editing;
Be self-motivated and meticulous;
Be able to meet deadlines and work independently; and
Excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese

Terms and Conditions for Appointment

Successful candidate will be appointed on a part-time contract. Benefits will be provided in accordance with the statutory provisions. The appointment will be for a period of approximately one year, and the working hours will be agreed between the candidate and the Dean of the School of Arts and Social Sciences, or his/her nominee.

Duration of Appointment

1 Year (The working hours will be agreed between the candidate and the Director of Tin Ka Ping Centre of Chinese Culture.)
