Job Summary:

This role sits within the Research & Markets team within the commercial function and is responsible for developing structured market insights and analysis to support business units and group-level initiatives. The role focuses on research, analysis, and insight generation, helping to build a strong understanding of markets, customers, and industry dynamics. The output from this role will support business development, planning, and decision-making across Hutchison Ports. The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders to ensure insights are effectively translated into actionable initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Research & Analysis

Conduct analysis of market trends and demand drivers, industry developments and competitive landscape, key customer segments and sectors
Support business units with market-specific research and ad hoc analysis requests
Monitor and track key developments across relevant markets and sectors

2. Insight Development & Synthesis

Consolidate information from multiple sources (internal data, external reports, market intelligence)
Translate analysis into clear insights, key takeaways and implications for the business
Identify emerging themes, risks, and opportunities within markets

3. Support Business Development & Planning

Provide analytical input to support identification of opportunities, evaluation of new ideas or initiatives and prioritisation of focus areas
Contribute to preparation of materials for internal discussions and planning activities
Ensure insights are relevant, targeted and aligned with business needs

4. Business Unit Support

Respond to research requests from business units across regions
Provide tailored analysis to support local market understanding, customer-related discussions and specific projects or initiatives
Help ensure consistency in analytical approaches and outputs across BUs

5. Knowledge Building & Sharing

Support development of a central knowledge base covering market insights, sector analysis and customer intelligence
Contribute to regular outputs such as market updates, summary reports and industry insights
Assist in maintaining structured materials that can be reused across the organisation

6. Stakeholder Support & Communication

Work closely with stakeholders across business units, regional teams and internal functions
Present findings in a clear, concise, and structured manner
Support preparation of presentations and summaries for internal audiences

Requirements:

3 years or above experience in market research, analysis, strategy, consulting roles or commercial support functions
Solid experience of working with data and market information
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to synthesize information into clear and structured insights
Good communication skills, with ability to present findings clearly
Proficiency in data visualization tools such as Tableau, PowerBI
Strong command of written and spoken English and Chinese
Exposure to logistics, shipping, or related industries is advantageous but not required
