Established in 2025, Cambiaso Risso Hong Kong Limited is an independent risk consultant and insurance and reinsurance broker highly specialised in Marine Insurance. The Hong Kong entity is part of the Cambiaso Risso Group and plays a key role in supporting clients across Asia from our Wanchai office.
Start-up ContextThis position is based in a newly established office. You will contribute to setting up processes, ensuring operational excellence, and providing multi-role support typical of a start-up environment.
ResponsibilitiesAs an Accountant, you will report to the local Managing Director and the Group CFO in Italy, applying your accounting, reporting, reconciliation and compliance skills to manage the company’s day-to-day finance operations. The role requires a hands-on individual who can maintain accurate financial records, support insurance brokerage accounting processes, manage payments and cash flow, and ensure timely financial and regulatory reporting. You will also contribute to process improvement and help maintain sound financial controls across the business.
Mainly but not limited to:Handle Apply strong financial accounting skills to manage the full set of accounts, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.Prepare accurate monthly management accounts, financial reports, journal entries, audit schedules, and year-end financial statements in a timely manner.Support the annual audit process by liaising with external auditors and ensuring proper documentation and schedules are prepared.Ensure accounting records and reporting are maintained in compliance with applicable financial reporting standards and internal requirements.Support budgeting and forecasting activities by preparing relevant schedules, data and analysis.Reconcile and confirm intercompany balances with counterparties, ensuring completeness and accuracy of records.Maintain the fixed assets register and ensure supporting documentation is properly recorded and updated.Apply brokerage accounting knowledge to manage premium collections, insurer payments, claims collections and payments to clients accurately and on time.Prepare monthly production and commission income reports, including variance analysis and commentary where required.Reconcile client and insurer statements and monitor outstanding premiums, following up with the broking team where necessary.Maintain proper records for client and fiduciary accounts in line with regulatory requirements and internal controls.Support regulatory reporting, statutory filings and finance-related compliance matters, including liaison with tax agents, representatives and company secretary where required.Manage payments, staff reimbursements, banking transactions and cash flow to support smooth financial operations.Contribute to process improvements, strengthen finance controls, and support ad hoc finance projects or assignments as requested.
Education & ExperienceDegree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; professional qualification such as CPA, ACCA, or equivalent is preferred.Minimum 3–4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an insurance brokerage, financial services, or other regulated environment.Experience in handling full set of accounts, month-end closing, reconciliations, and audit support is preferred.Familiarity with Hong Kong regulatory, accounting, and tax requirements is preferred.Knowledge of marine insurance operations or brokerage accounting would be an advantage.
Skills & CompetenciesProficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Word.Strong numerical, reconciliation and analytical skills, with the ability to work accurately with financial data.Good organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage priorities and meet reporting deadlines.Able to work independently in a hands-on role, while also collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.Organised, detail-oriented and deadline-conscious, with a strong sense of accuracy and accountability.Meticulous and disciplined in maintaining proper records, documentation and financial controls.Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify discrepancies and follow through on outstanding issues.Willing to learn, adaptable, and able to support process improvements where needed.Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
