About The Role
As General Manager for Hong Kong reporting to the CEO, you will run Gaiamesh's Hong Kong and Greater Bay Area business. You will hold full P&L responsibility for the region, build and manage the local team, and ensure that Gaiamesh has the operational foundation to grow aggressively in one of our most important markets.
This is not a pure management role. We need someone who can step into a client meeting and credibly discuss HVAC optimization, datacenter cooling, or IoT architecture — then walk back to the office and sort out a lease, a hire, or a vendor contract. You will operate the HK business with the autonomy and ownership mindset of a founder, backed by the resources and technical depth of the wider Gaiamesh organization.

Direct Reports: Regional BD, sales, and local operations staff (team to grow as the region scales)
What You Will Do
P&L Ownership & Business Operations
- Own the regional P&L including revenue targets, cost management, and profitability
- Develop and execute the annual operating plan for HK/GBA in alignment with company strategy
- Manage regional budgets, vendor contracts, and financial reporting
- Provide the CEO with regular business performance updates and forecasts
- Make resource allocation decisions that balance growth investment with financial discipline
Local Operations & Office Management
- Establish and manage Gaiamesh's Hong Kong office presence
- Own all local operational functions: office administration, IT setup, legal compliance, and vendor management
- Ensure compliance with Hong Kong employment law, tax, and corporate regulations
- Manage relationships with local legal, accounting, and professional service providers
- Build operational processes that are lean, effective, and scalable
Team Building & People Management
- Recruit, onboard, and manage the HK/GBA team as the region grows
- Directly manage provide coaching on deal strategy and account development
- Foster a high-performance culture that reflects Gaiamesh's values and pace
- Coordinate with Shanghai HR on hiring processes, compensation, and employment matters
- Identify staffing needs and build a hiring roadmap aligned with regional growth targets
Deal Support & Client Engagement
- Support the BD team in closing complex or high-value deals by providing technical credibility and senior presence
- Engage directly with C-level and facilities leadership at key accounts
- Represent Gaiamesh at industry events, conferences, and client meetings in the region
- Ensure client expectations are well-managed and that handoffs between sales, solutions, and deployment are seamless
- Build and maintain relationships with strategic partners, channel partners, and industry stakeholders
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Serve as the primary regional point of contact between HK/GBA and Gaiamesh's global functions (Solutions, Platform, IoT Systems)
- Coordinate with the CSO on solution scoping and delivery standards for regional projects
- Work with the Head of Sales on pipeline strategy and go-to-market alignment
- Escalate regional risks and opportunities to the CEO with clear recommendations
Required Skills
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing a regional P&L or business unit
- Technical fluency in building automation, HVAC systems, energy management, datacenter infrastructure, or IoT — sufficient to hold credible conversations with engineers, facility managers, and CTOs
- Proven ability to build and lead small teams in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with office setup, vendor management, and local operational compliance
- Strong negotiation and client-facing communication skills
- Comfortable using AI tools (Claude, LLMs) to enhance personal and team productivity
- Fluent in English and Cantonese; Mandarin proficiency strongly preferred
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in technology, building services, energy, or related industries
- 3+ years of experience in a general management, country management, or business unit leadership role with P&L responsibility
- Track record of building or scaling a regional business operation
- Background in B2B technology sales, building automation, facilities management, or energy services
- Established professional network in Hong Kong's commercial real estate, property management, or datacenter ecosystem is a strong plus
