STUDENT AFFAIRS OFFICE

Section Head (Student Development) (Ref. 260427002-IE)

Duties

The appointee will be required to:

(a) provide strategic leadership and oversee the operation of the Student Affairs Office (SAO) to support the holistic development of students and student organisations;

(b) formulate and implement strategies for a diverse range of student interest groups and non-local student organisations, leveraging opportunities to advance campus internationalisation and regional integration;

(c) enhance cross-cultural integration and student holistic development by creating a vibrant campus life that bridges local and non-local student organisations;

(d) manage student leadership and development programmes that aim at strengthening PolyU students' global mindset and competence;

(e) serve as a key interface for communication with the Central Management Team on student-related issues;

(f) oversee the Student Development Section to ensure the effective realisation of SAO’s vision and mission, driving continuous improvement in service delivery; and

(g) perform any other duties as assigned by the Dean of Students or his/her delegates.

The appointee may be required to work beyond or outside normal office hours to attend meetings and/or events / activities, and travel occasionally to the Chinese Mainland and overseas for liaison and coordination duties in support of developing strategic collaborations that benefit students.

Qualifications

Applications should have:

(a) a recognised degree, preferably with a higher degree;

(b) at least ten year’s administrative / supervisory experience in tertiary education institutions;

(c) demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills of the highest calibre with a passion for providing support and services to students;

(d) proven leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to initiate, formulate, monitor and implement events, activities and programmes for the students’ benefits;

(e) flexibility, maturity and experience in handling student-related matters;

(f) capability to formulate innovative ideas in advancing students’ development;

(g) strong awareness of the socio-economic landscape affecting youth in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area;

(h) a visionary mindset with the ability to transform student affairs into a proactive vehicle for student success;

(i) excellent analytical, problem-solving and organisation skills; and

(j) an excellent command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese).

Shortlisted candidates may be invited to sit for a written test.

Conditions of Service

A highly competitive remuneration package will be offered. Initial appointment will be on a fixed-term gratuity-bearing contract. Re-engagement thereafter is subject to mutual agreement.
