Requirements
Education & Professional ExperienceAcademic Background: B.S. degree from an accredited four-year institution, or a comparable level of practical field experience.
Industry Tenure: Between 3 and 5 years of direct experience within the refining or chemical processing sectors.
Leadership: Prior experience in a line management or supervisory capacity is highly desirable.
Technical Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge
Industry Standards: Working familiarity with the guidelines and best practices established by OSHA, EPA, API, ASME, and NFPA.
Safety Management: Strong functional understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM) and Risk Management Plan (RMP) protocols.
???????Engineering & Technical Proficiency
Schematic Interpretation: The ability to accurately read and analyze technical documentation, including equipment blueprints, P&IDs, and control loop diagrams.
Engineering Principles: A foundational grasp of core chemical engineering concepts, specifically mass transfer, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer calculations.
Scientific Literacy: A solid command of fundamental chemistry principles.
???????Safety & Emergency Response
ERT Preparedness: General awareness of Emergency Response Team functions, including the Incident Command System (ICS), HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR, and fire extinguisher operation.
Security: Valid TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credentials) are mandatory for this position.
???????Soft Skills & Software
Communication: Exceptional interpersonal abilities and the capacity to communicate effectively across different levels of the organization.
Digital Tools: Advanced competency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint).
Systems: Previous exposure to SAP or similar ERP environments is considered a distinct advantage.
Responsibilities
- Analyze the operation of the site to identify continuous improvement opportunities that generate savings or efficiencies
- Support day-to-day operations by providing project, process, and engineering expertise
- Author FEL1 Capital Project scope & justifications
- Execute small capital projects, including field construction supervision
- Manage site variable costs/usage and develop action plans for improvement
- Lead control loop improvement efforts
- Maintain accurate BFDs, PFDs, and P&IDs
- Plan, coordinate, execute, and document Maximum Daily Capacity (MDC) tests
- Monitor differential pressures, heat exchanger U-values, catalyst reactivity, and acid mist removal
- Use SUMO Compliance Tool to analyze processes and recommend improvements
- Manage site production KPIs including On Stream Time (OST), Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), and Turbo Generator Efficiency (TGE)
- Enter data daily, run, and distribute reports weekly
- Support management initiatives and serve as a change agent on site
- Support Equipment Strategy and best practice compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety and environmental policies, including HS&E, ISO/RC 14001
- Participate in HSE and Process Safety activities and initiatives
