Salary: HK$35,800 - HK$44,415 per month
Entry Requirements:Candidates should have (a) a Bachelor degree in Engineering (Biomedical or Electronics discipline) or Applied Science from a Hong Kong university, or equivalent; and have a minimum of 1 year’s post-qualification full time working experience in the above-mentioned field; and (b) met the language proficiency requirements of Level 3 or above in Chinese Language and English Language in the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSEE) or the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE), or equivalent (See Note 1 and 2). Preference will be given to candidates who have more relevant work experience in the field.

Note 1: For the purpose of this recruitment, ‘Grade C’ in Chinese Language and English Language (Syllabus B) in the HKCEE before 2007 are accepted administratively as comparable to ‘Level 3’ in Chinese Language and English Language in the 2007 HKCEE and henceforth.)

Duties:An Assistant Research Officer is responsible for assisting senior officers to (a) conduct literature review, analyse and interpret data for evaluation of medical device technology and smart healthcare solution; (b) study medical device-related adverse incidents; (c) set up, operate, maintain and evaluate information systems on medical device technology including surveillance; (d) update and maintain various databases, compile statistical reports and perform statistical analysis; (e) plan, carry out and support statistical and/or research projects including the preparation of papers, briefs, statistical or progress reports and research projects on related subjects, and make recommendation to management; (f) conduct quality assurance surveys, including through on-site inspections of the facilities, maintenance arrangement and procedures of biomedical equipment/ systems, to evaluate work flow and guidelines; (g) handle enquiries and take up related liaison work; and (h) undertake other duties as assigned by his/her superiors from time to time.
Successful candidates may be posted to work in other departments and may be required to: (a) work irregular hours/in remote areas/in harsh conditions; (b) perform shift duty/stand-by duty/on-call duty/emergency duty; (c) wear uniform/protective clothing; (d) carry pager/mobile phone; (e) work with computer; (f) perform self-drive duty (training will be provided where necessary); and (g) perform any other duties as required.
Terms of Appointment:Successful candidates will be appointed on non-civil service contract terms. Renewal of contracts will be subject to the service need of the department and the performance and conduct of the candidates.
Fringe Benefits An end-of-contract gratuity may be granted upon satisfactory completion of the contract with consistently high standard of performance and conduct. Such gratuity, plus any contribution to be made by the Government to a Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) scheme in respect of the appointee as required by the MPF Schemes Ordinance, will equal to 15% of the total basic salary drawn during the contract period. Rest days, statutory holidays (or substituted holidays), annual leave, maternity leave and sickness allowance, where appropriate, will be granted no less favourable than the provisions of the Employment Ordinance.
