As Director of Last Mile Operations – Global, you will oversee global shipping, trade compliance, and the development of related new capabilities such as traceability, packaging optimization, labeling compliance, RFID technology, and sourcing-related trade compliance. You will lead or join last mile operations projects to benchmark best practices, standardize processes, identify gaps, promote tools, improve reporting, and drive ongoing improvements beyond core duties. This role is well-suited for a leader who thrive when tackling complex operational challenges, can understand wider supply chain connectivity, and stepping in directly when needed—all in pursuit of a competitive advantage.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Leading global shipping function (20%)
Oversee global shipping teams located in Macau and Guangzhou.
Streamline processes, automate tasks, and enable teams to operate at a control tower level.
Collaborate with regional partners to optimize freight operations and associated processes, identify cost-saving opportunities and efficiency improvements across factories and regions, and promote ongoing enhancements in distributor shipment procedures and visibility.
Develop a program to optimize packaging for cost savings, standardization, and regional DC automation. (25%)
Explore ways to optimize packaging and prepare a recommendation for senior leadership approval.
Collaborate with product development, sourcing, and regional teams to deliver a sustainable solution aligned with company objectives and operations.
Develop a process for factories and commercialization, and set key metrics to track success from material vendors to distribution centers.
Enhance future traceability and RFID solutions to transform operational processes into a competitive advantage, positioning the organization as an industry leader. (25%)
Digitize trade labeling requirements and implement digital tools for compliance and factory connectivity.
Conduct a thorough evaluation of leading traceability solutions and collaborate with global and regional partners to develop a robust business case, secure necessary approvals, and oversee the implementation of the selected solution.
Lead global RFID capability program, including roadmap and implementation.
Responsible for the implementation, performance oversight, and reporting of sourcing-related trade compliance activities. (10%)
Support product classification alignment with factories and regions.
Collaborate with factories and agents to establish and oversee trade standard operating procedures, ensuring performance and compliance are consistently monitored.
Serve as the lead for compliance project implementation with factories, ensuring efficient and timely execution.
Lead or contribute to last mile operations projects to benchmark practices, standardize processes, identify gaps, promote tools, enhance reporting, and drive continual improvement. (25%)
Lead or advise on regional projects by providing expert solutions as a stretch assignment.
Participate as a member of global trade leadership team, attend meetings, contribute to the roadmap, and help resolve challenges to ensure completion.
Develop trade business cases, provide insights, support progress, and collaborate across teams for consensus and approval. Present to regional and global leadership teams when needed.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Industrial Engineering; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
Certifications:
• Six Sigma Black Belt desired
Work Experience:
• Significant (15 years +) experience of senior management responsibility in sizeable commercial enterprises with direct accountability for relevant Operations-linked functions.
• Experience managing teams in multiple locations in different cultures.
• Experience of senior management in global role or global business in a regional structure with globally driven operations
• Experience of significant change management projects within a complex international organization
• Experience of satisfying the needs of diverse constituents in a complex global organization often working under the pressure of competing or conflicting priorities
• Experience in Sourcing, Logistics, Planning, master data mining and Power BI.
