The positions are hosted by the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology, with successful candidates holding their academic appointment in the Department of Mathematics and Information Technology as the home department. Appointees are responsible for conducting high-quality research and teaching, leading project development and knowledge transfer activities, and assisting to develop curriculum activities and to supervise students at all levels. Specific responsibilities include:
- Conducting research in Human-centred Artificial Intelligence for Education and other disciplines as the primary duty;
- Pursuing external research grants, such as General Research Fund, Early Career Scheme, Innovation and Technology Fund and other competitive external funds, as Principal Investigator or Co-Investigator;
- Delivering high-quality teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels, and/or supervision of postgraduate students;
- Assisting in developing curriculum activities for the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes;
- Leading the project development and knowledge transfer at the Centre for Learning, Teaching and Technology, working closely with the Director;
- Developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with stakeholders both Faculties and Departments within the University, and external parties including but not limited to donors and service users; and
- Undertaking any duties as assigned by the Director or his/her delegates.
Applicants should have a doctoral degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology or a closely related discipline, with expertise in Data Science or Artificial Intelligence. They should be active researchers with a growing publication record, be able to continue conducting research that attracts competitive external funding and leads to publications in top-tier international journals and conferences. They should be fluent in English with some knowledge of Cantonese and/or Mandarin Chinese and the educational context of Hong Kong and/or China. Preference will be given to those created AI innovations to advance teaching and learning activities or with professional experience in industrial/commercial/public sectors with proven project records. Applicants with post-qualification teaching experience in the tertiary education sector and commitment to high-quality teaching would also be highly valued. The appointee may need to travel outside Hong Kong on a need basis.
