Cathay Subsidiary Services consists of several independent departments that provides professional services to Cathay Pacific Airways Limited and its subsidiaries (the ‘Company'), including but not limited to Cathay Cargo Terminal, Cathay Dining, HAS by Cathay and Vogue Laundry.
The selected candidate will lead, develop, drive and implement different people strategies and action plans to contribute to sustainable business growth while coping with anticipated business challenges and opportunities, in the best interests of the subsidiary business needs, and the Cathay group overall. S/he will partner with subsidiary business leaders and people managers to roll out strategic HR initiatives in people planning, talent and leadership development, compliance, and other change initiatives, whilst also playing an advisory role to senior management.
This position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Service Subsidiaries and works closely with the subsidiary Chief Operating Officer (COO) architecting and executing comprehensive people strategies.
Responsibilities:
- Define and articulate a forward-thinking people strategy that aligns with business objectives and fosters organizational growth.
- Serve as a strategic partner and advisor to subsidiary leaders, influencing decision-making and driving alignment on people-related initiatives.
- Spearhead the transition from a subsidiary-focused human resource model to a centralized structure, enhancing efficiency and accountability in talent acquisition and management.
- Drive the cultural transformation towards a high-performance workforce characterized by empowerment, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Champion the core values and culture of the Cathay group, ensuring that these principles are integrated into all people-related initiatives and employee experiences.
- Promote a strong organizational identity that unites the subsidiaries, enhancing collaboration and synergy across diverse teams.
- Develop and monitor effective talent acquisition, leadership development, and succession planning initiatives that ensure a robust pipeline of talent capable of meeting future business needs.
- Implement metrics and analytics to assess workforce performance and inform strategic HR decisions.
- Ensure adherence to HR policies and regulations, offering guidance to business partners in each subsidiary regarding compliance and best practices.
- Foster a culture of diversity and inclusion, enhancing the work environment to attract and retain top talent across all subsidiaries.
- Oversee the implementation of performance management systems and recognition programs, integrating employee experience initiatives to promote engagement and retention.
- Provide strategic oversight for resource allocation within subsidiaries, ensuring compensation and benefit structures are competitive and aligned with organizational goals.
- Design and implement training frameworks and content aimed at to reskilling and upskilling employees to develop their capabilities.
- Lead initiatives for the digitization of HR processes, leveraging technology to enhance operational efficiency and employee engagement.
- Implement digital HR tools and systems that provide data-driven insights for recruitment, performance management, and talent development.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through the adoption of innovative HR technologies that streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the HR budget to ensure effective utilization of resources while aligning with strategic priorities.
- Stay abreast of labour market trends, government regulations, and HR best practices to inform strategic planning and maintain organizational compliance.
Requirements:
- Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in human resources leadership within a complex, multi-national environment.
- Proven expertise in talent management, employee relations, and HR operational effectiveness.
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to align human resource functions with business strategy.
- Exceptional leadership, coaching, and influencing skills, with experience interfacing at the executive level.
- In-depth understanding of Hong Kong labour legislation and HR practices.
- University degree in a relevant field.
- Excellent trilingual communication skills (English, Cantonese and Mandarin).
