The Biosciences Central Research Facility (BioCRF, CWB) at HKUST is a premier core facility dedicated to advancing biological research through cutting-edge technologies. We support interdisciplinary scientific discovery by providing researchers with access to state-of-the-art instrumentation and expertise.

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Technical Officer to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in the daily operations of our biobank, ensuring the integrity and quality of biological samples while adhering to regulatory and ethical standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist in the collection, processing, and storage of biological samples, including blood, tissue, and other biological materials.
Maintain accurate records of sample inventory, processing protocols, and quality control procedures.
Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, guidelines, and best practices in biobanking.
Collaborate with researchers and staff to support sample requests, processing, and distribution.
Participate in the development and implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for biobank operations.
Conduct routine maintenance and calibration of and provide user training for laboratory equipment.
Support quality assurance initiatives and participate in audits as required.
Assist in managing other core facilities and services as needed.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field (e.g., biology, biotechnology, biochemistry, or related discipline).
Previous experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in biobanking and/or liquid handling or a related fields.
Strong understanding of laboratory techniques and biological sample handling.
Familiarity with regulatory requirements and ethical considerations in biobanking.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication skills, with proficiency in written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese or Putonghua).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Duration: 1 year, renewable

Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits including annual leave, medical and dental benefits will be provided.
