Responsibilities

· Assist in managing market and policy research projects;

· Engage with and advise the Government and public bodies on competition policy-related matters;

· Draft opinions and position papers on competition law and policy matters of relevance to Hong Kong; and

· Support the Commission’s active participation in the international competition community, especially via the International Competition Network, OECD Competition Committee, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation and other regional fora, that is conducive to the exchange of best practices as well as the advancement of international cooperation on competition matters.

Requirements

· A university degree in Law, Economics, Political Science, Public Policy, Business, Finance, Data Sciences/Statistics, or related fields;

· At least 4 years of experience in conducting research, preferably working within the public sector;

· Proven experience in managing and drafting policy/ legal research projects as well as engaging and overseeing external consultant;

· Very good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with strong presentation and writing skills;

· Good strong research and analytical skills;

· Good communications and interpersonal skills, and ability to work with people with different cultural and professional background;

· Attentive to details and good organizational skills; and

· Good understanding of the policymaking process in, and the political landscape of, Hong Kong.

Terms of Appointment and Remuneration Package

Terms: Appointment will be offered on 6 months fixed-term contract, renewable depending on performance and operational needs.

Basic Salary: The starting salary for this position is HK$35,460 per month, depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Contract-end Gratuity: 10% of the basic salary (including 5% employer’s contribution of MPF)
