The Business Manager is a key member of the Business Management (Asia & Middle East) team within the Global Products & Solutions (GPS) organisation and is responsible for providing business support.
In this capacity, the primary responsibilities involve supporting GPS Hong Kong’s Executive Officer in effectively discharging governance, regulatory, and business responsibilities. The role also involves working closely with, and providing business support to, GPS co-heads and GPS location heads, and where relevant, the GPS management team.
Other aspects of the role include managing and coordinating various business management activities such as planning, forecasting, and tracking various KPIs (e.g. costs, FTEs, financial ambitions), organising and facilitating management committee meetings, preparing regular management reports, and overseeing centralised financial reporting.
The Business Manager reports to Head Business Management (Asia & Middle East).

People management
- Contribute to the strengthening of the team spirit and the fostering of a collaborative work environment
- Build highly impactful relationships with global and regional stakeholders across functions in the Bank
Client management (internal & external)
- Provide business support to GPS co-heads, GPS location heads, and where relevant, the GPS management team
- Support GPS Hong Kong’s Executive Officer in effectively discharging governance, regulatory, business responsibilities, and where required, branch-wide initiatives
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders and collaborate with external partners and vendors to ensure smooth execution of business operations
Business management
- Support the team’s strategic objectives and operational goals, driving business outcomes and results
- Identify opportunities to enhance functional efficiency and productivity, proposing process improvements and workflow optimisations, where relevant/appropriate
- Organise and facilitate GPS monthly management committee meetings, including preparation of materials, coordination of agenda, recording of minutes, and tracking of follow-up/action items
- Prepare and consolidate management reports (non-risk related) for GPS at the Global Wealth Management Committee/Executive Board, GPS Management Committees (MC), and location governance forums (e.g. Hong Kong Management Committee)
- Provide regular updates and insights to GPS management on the trajectory and forecast of KPIs (e.g. cost, financial ambitions)
- Oversee centralised financial reporting, inventory, and distribution, serving as a single point of contact for all reports (e.g. cost and headcount budgeting/tracking, KPIs, HR related, etc.), ensuring consistency, timeliness, and data integrity
- Support the internalisation efforts of external or contract employees, coordinating the end-to-end process with relevant stakeholders (e.g. business, finance, HR)
- Assist in the development and maintenance of GPS cost governance frameworks (e.g. travel framework), ensuring policies/guidelines are clearly communicated, adhered to, and reviewed periodically
- Represent GPS globally in Head of Business Technology forums, where relevant
- Manage GPS’ operational value stream ProTime tracking

- Adhere to the standards and expectations outlined in the relevant user manuals and guidelines
- Stay abreast of regulatory development and changes in Hong Kong, in order to support the GPS Hong Kong’s Executive Officer

Professional & technical
- 8 years or more of private banking knowledge and experience, specifically in a business management role
- Relevant higher educational and professional background
- Good command of financial analytical skills
- Strong commercial judgement, business acumen and a broad understanding of the financial markets and products
Regulatory
- Familiarity with regulatory expectations and requirements
- Understanding of cross border rules and regulations
