The Metropolitan Youth Orchestra of Hong Kong (MYO) is a registered charity founded in 2003. Over the course of two decades, we've had the privilege of nurturing thousands of talented young musicians in Hong Kong. About the position:

The Orchestra Manager is a pivotal managerial role that oversees the administrative operations and event planning for the orchestra. With a primary focus on managerial responsibilities, this position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in orchestra administration, event planning, and managerial roles. The incumbent will lead and manage teams effectively, ensuring the smooth functioning of the orchestra's activities.

A key aspect of this role involves regular reporting to the management on operational activities and development plans for the orchestra. This role plays a crucial role in shaping the future of the development of the orchestra, fostering young musical talent, and ensuring the orchestra's continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Orchestra Administration and Operations:

Manage day-to-day administrative operations of the orchestra.
Coordinate audition processes for new members, track recruitment efforts, and ensure seamless rehearsals and performances in collaboration with the Artistic Director/Conductors.

2. Scheduling Rehearsals, Planning Concerts, and Events:

Develop and maintain a comprehensive schedule of rehearsals, concerts, and events.
Coordinate with orchestra members, staff, and venues to schedule rehearsals and secure performance spaces.
Assist in planning concerts, including venue arrangements, equipment rentals, and technical requirements.

3. Finance and Budget Management:

Handle the orchestra's finances, including expense tracking and financial reporting.
Collaborate with the Finance Manager on accurate financial transactions and budget adherence.
Monitor payment of tuition fees, establish payment processes, and communicate with members regarding fee deadlines and balances.

4. Communication and Coordination:

Ensure clear and timely communication with orchestra members, staff, and external stakeholders.
Disseminate important information about rehearsals, concerts, and events.
Coordinate performance-related updates with the Artistic Director/Conductor and Section Coaches/Music Educators.

5. Event Planning and Venue Coordination:

Coordinate logistics and planning for concerts and events.
Manage relationships with vendors, venues, and technical teams to ensure flawless event planning and execution.
Conduct site visits, prepare venue documentation, and oversee stage layout, equipment placement, and safety considerations.

Qualifications and Skills:

Bachelor's degree in Arts Administration, Music Management, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of managerial experience in orchestra administration, event planning. Applicants with less experience would be considered for the position of Assistant Orchestra Manager.
Proven track record of successful team management and leadership.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication abilities.
Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin).
