Senior Information Officer

Responsibilities

Carry out daily operations of research computing facilities, ensuring smooth and efficient functioning
Manage user accounts, providing access to HPC resources while ensuring compliance with policies and regulations
Monitor and control appropriate access rights to HPC resources continuously
Implement robust data backup strategies to ensure the integrity and availability of research data
Track and manage HPC hardware and software assets, ensuring accurate inventory records
Perform regular health checks on all systems to preemptively identify, resolve or escalate issues
Provide support to researchers, students and other users of the HPC systems
Assist users with job submission, scheduling and optimisation
Provide support to users in software installation and configuration
May be required to work in shifts and irregular hours
Perform any other duties as requested by supervisor(s)

Requirements

A recognized Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related disciplines
At least 3 years of relevant working experience
Proven experience in managing high-performance computing (HPC) environments
Proficiency in Linux/Unix operating systems
Familiarity with HPC job schedulers (e.g. SLURM, PBS and Grid Engine)
A good knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, Awk and Perl
Solid experience in account provisioning environment that integrate between Microsoft Active Directory and Linux/Unix systems
Experience with data backup and recovery solutions
Experience with inventory management tools and practices
Strong understanding of user account management and access rights control
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to provide effective user support
Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Candidates with less/more experience will be considered for appointment at a relevant rank.

Salary and Fringe Benefits
The rank and commencing salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Fringe benefits, where applicable, include annual leave, medical and dental benefits, mandatory provident fund and gratuity.
