This role will be responsible for supporting the Firm's financial operations by providing rate management support, assisting with month-end closing activities, supporting statutory audit and taxation exercises, and delivering client and practice reporting and analysis.

Responsibilities

Provide local support for rates including managing and maintenance of client arrangements
Summarise the financial impact of existing rate arrangements and develop and recommend revisions to the agreements as they are renewed
Coordinate and execute the annual rate setting and PQE increase processes across the firm
Support updates and revisions to existing rate arrangements, implement/apply finalized agreements and ensure that rates and other key matter data are properly assigned on an ongoing basis
Involved in month-end closing activities, including prepare/review journal entries and schedules
Coordinate with PRC affiliates and support teams on month-end closing and management reporting
Assist in the preparation of monthly financial reports and analyses
Prepare various reconciliations, including bank reconciliation, intercompany transactions/balances reconciliations
Assist in statutory audit and taxation exercises
Prepare client and practice specific reports and analysis
Assist in finance-related projects

Qualification / Person Specification

Degree in finance, accounting or business
Pursuing or holding professional certifications such as ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant)
Prior experience in auditing is a must
6-8 years’ experience, with experience of working within a partnership environment desired, preferably a law firm; candidates with less experience will be considered as Accounts Officer
Experience in professional services pricing and/or fee negotiation is preferable
Strong excel skills are a distinct advantage
Project Management skills are essential, able to manage multiple projects at one time and prioritise as necessary
Strong analytical, evaluative and critical thinking skills, able to analyse data and present meaningful and useable insight to partners and Firm management
Familiar with legal accounting software and systems commonly used in law firms, such as Aderant Expert, or similar platforms
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Able to articulate points of view clearly and succinctly, with excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Capable and confident to interact with different levels of colleagues and lawyers with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Strong command of spoken and written English and Chinese
