Role Description The Construction Materials Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in the New Territories. The role involves planning and supervising testing of construction materials, including soils, concrete, aggregates, steel, and repair materials, in both laboratory and field environments. The engineer will review specifications, design testing programs, interpret test results, and prepare technical reports to support quality assurance and compliance with relevant standards. Daily responsibilities include coordinating with project teams, monitoring the performance of on-site laboratories and instrumentation, assisting with defect surveys and core drilling programs, and providing technical advice on materials selection and performance. The role also requires adherence to safety and quality procedures, and participation in continuous improvement of testing methods and systems.

Qualifications

Strong foundation in civil or materials engineering, with knowledge of construction materials behavior, testing methods, and relevant local and international standards.
Experience with laboratory and field testing of soils, concrete, aggregates, steel, and repair materials, including sample preparation, test execution, and data interpretation.
Skills in geotechnical and structural monitoring, such as geotechnical instrumentation, pile testing, core drilling oversight, and evaluation of test results for construction quality control.
Ability to review technical specifications, contribute to quality systems design for laboratory testing, and provide practical materials advice to project stakeholders.
Competence in technical reporting, including clear documentation of methodologies, results, and recommendations in English; Chinese language skills are an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree or above in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline; professional accreditation or progress toward registration is beneficial.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and commitment to safety, quality, and ethical professional practice.
Willingness to work on-site across various project locations in the New Territories, with flexibility for field work and occasional irregular hours as project demands require.
