About the Role

GABES Limited is looking for an R&D Engineer (AI) to join our R&D team in Hong Kong.

The role focuses on developing, training, optimizing, and validating AI models using data collected from laboratory experiments and real-world project environments. You will work closely with our experimental, engineering, product, and field operation teams to turn practical data into reliable AI models for intelligent monitoring, detection, and fire safety technology applications.

This position is suitable for someone who enjoys applied AI, sensor data, experimental data, and solving real-world engineering problems.

Key Responsibilities

Collect, clean, process, and organize data from laboratory experiments and real-world project deployments.
Develop, train, test, and optimize AI / machine learning models for detection, classification, prediction, and monitoring applications.
Analyze sensor data, environmental data, site data, and system performance data to identify useful patterns and features.
Work with experimental teams to understand testing procedures, data collection methods, and technical requirements.
Improve model accuracy, robustness, and reliability under different real-world operating conditions.
Design and conduct model validation, benchmarking, and performance evaluation.
Support the integration of AI models into GABES products, platforms, and monitoring systems.
Prepare technical documentation, including model development records, testing results, assumptions, and performance reports.
Collaborate with hardware, software, R&D, and field operation teams to support product development and project implementation.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or above in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related disciplines.
Experience in AI / machine learning model development, data analysis, or algorithm development.
Proficiency in Python and common AI / data science libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, Scikit-learn, Pandas, NumPy, or similar tools.
Experience in handling sensor data, time-series data, image data, experimental data, or environmental data is an advantage.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and research skills.
Able to work with cross-functional teams, including engineers, researchers, and field project teams.
Good documentation and communication skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and willing to work on practical engineering problems.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in computer vision, anomaly detection, predictive analytics, sensor analytics, IoT, or edge AI.
Experience in deploying AI models into real-world systems, cloud platforms, APIs, databases, or MLOps workflows.
Interest or experience in smart safety, fire safety technology, intelligent monitoring systems, construction technology, or industrial applications.
