Role Description

We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Compliance Team Lead – KYB to oversee the end-to-end business onboarding and due diligence process for corporate and institutional clients. The successful candidate will lead a compliance team responsible for ensuring robust Know Your Business (KYB) standards are applied consistently in line with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and financial crime prevention frameworks.

The Compliance Team Lead will manage KYB operations, including business customer onboarding, enhanced due diligence (EDD), ongoing monitoring, and periodic reviews. The role involves ensuring accurate verification of corporate structures, beneficial ownership, source of funds, and risk classification of business clients.

Key responsibilities include leading daily KYB review activities, allocating workloads, ensuring timely completion of onboarding cases, and maintaining high-quality compliance standards. The individual will review complex and high-risk corporate files, including multi-jurisdictional entities, and provide final approval or escalation recommendations where necessary.

The role also involves developing and maintaining KYB procedures, improving operational efficiency, and ensuring alignment with Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF), and sanctions regulations. The Compliance Team Lead will work closely with Compliance, Legal, Risk, Operations, and Business teams to ensure a consistent and risk-based approach to client onboarding.

In addition, the successful candidate will monitor regulatory developments, implement process improvements, and support audit and regulatory examinations by providing documentation, insights, and remediation plans. The role includes tracking key risk indicators, reporting compliance metrics, and identifying emerging financial crime risks within corporate client portfolios.

The Compliance Team Lead will also be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and developing junior team members, ensuring adherence to quality standards and fostering a strong compliance culture. The role requires strong leadership, decision-making, and the ability to manage high volumes of complex cases under tight deadlines.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong regulatory knowledge, analytical thinking, and leadership capability. Success in this role requires sound judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to balance regulatory compliance with business efficiency in a fast-paced financial services environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, Risk Management, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of KYB, AML, CTF, sanctions compliance, and financial crime prevention frameworks.
Experience in corporate onboarding, due diligence, and enhanced due diligence (EDD) processes.
Understanding of corporate structures, beneficial ownership, and cross-border regulatory requirements.
Strong leadership and team management experience in a compliance or financial crime function.
Excellent analytical and investigative skills with strong attention to detail.
Ability to interpret regulatory requirements and translate them into operational procedures.
Experience handling high-risk or complex corporate clients is highly advantageous.
Strong understanding of compliance systems, case management tools, and risk scoring frameworks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders.
Strong organizational and decision-making skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Experience supporting regulatory audits, inspections, and remediation programs.
Professional certifications such as CAMS, ICA, or equivalent are highly desirable.
Strong ethical judgment, integrity, and commitment to maintaining high compliance standards.
Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced regulatory environment.
