Job Summary:

We is seeking a Credit Analyst specializing in trade finance to support risk assessment and credit decisioning for cross-border and domestic trade transactions. This role focuses on evaluating counterparties, transaction structures, and underlying trade flows using both traditional financial analysis and alternative data sources. The ideal candidate will combine strong credit fundamentals with an understanding of supply chain finance and digital lending platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Assess credit risk of importers, exporters, and SMEs involved in trade finance transactions, including invoice financing, purchase order financing, and receivables discounting.
Analyze financial statements, trade documents (e.g., invoices, purchase orders, customs/tax declarations, etc.), and transactional data to determine creditworthiness.
Evaluate transaction structures to identify risks related to counterparties, jurisdictions, goods, and payment terms.
Leverage alternative data (e.g., e-commerce sales data, payment flows, logistics data) to enhance underwriting decisions.
Monitor trade finance portfolios, including exposure limits, concentration risks, and delinquency trends.
Support the development and refinement of trade finance credit policies and risk models.
Conduct country risk and industry risk analysis relevant to cross-border trade flows.
Collaborate with product, data, and operations teams to improve automated credit decisioning for trade finance products.
Ensure compliance with internal risk frameworks and external regulatory requirements, including AML/KYC considerations tied to trade transactions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
3–6+ years of experience in credit analysis, preferably in trade finance, supply chain finance, or SME lending.
Strong understanding of trade finance instruments such as letters of credit, guarantees, invoice financing, and open account trade.
Proficiency in financial analysis and familiarity with trade documentation.
Experience with data analysis tools (Excel required; SQL/Python preferred).
Knowledge of cross-border risk considerations, including FX exposure and country risk.

Preferred Attributes:

Experience in fintech or digital trade finance platforms.
Familiarity with alternative data-driven underwriting approaches.
Understanding of regulatory frameworks relevant to trade finance (e.g., HKMA guidelines, AML trade-based money laundering risks).
Strong attention to detail and ability to assess complex transaction structures.

Skills:

Fluent in Mandarin, English and Chinese
Strong analytical and verification skills.
Excellent communication & coordination abilities for cross-functional collaboration.
Proficiency in MS Office and digital onboarding tools.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to ad-hoc projects.
