About the Department of Management and Strategy
The Department of Management and Strategy at the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, is a young and vibrant department actively building a strong research team. The Department brings together a broad range of disciplines, including business management, human resources management, aviation service management, real estate and surveying, sport and esports management, and hospitality and tourism management. It is home to the largest Sports and Recreation Management Programme in Hong Kong. This disciplinary breadth offers rich opportunities for cross-disciplinary collaboration and for applied, industry-facing research that speaks directly to Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. The School provides robust research support, including internal research funding, and adopts a balanced approach to research and teaching, offering a collegial and supportive environment for early-career scholars to grow and excel.
We seek promising early-career scholars who are close to completing or have recently completed a PhD and aim to build an international research reputation in sport and esports management. The appointee will join the discipline team behind the largest Sports and Recreation Management Programme in Hong Kong. In line with our ambition to be a thought leader in the applied sciences field, our faculty members have published in many of the leading academic journals in sports and leisure management, including Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, Leisure Studies, Leisure Sciences and others. Our faculty also serve the academic community through editorial boards at prestigious journals and active professional engagements. As a testament to the impact we make, our faculty members have received international awards for their research and contributions to knowledge creation.

We are now looking for a suitable person to fill the following position in the Lee Shau Kee School of Business and Administration:
Major Duties and Responsibilities
The appointee will be responsible mainly for the following:
- Undertaking/engaging in scholarly and professional activities, with a focus on building a strong research pipeline and an international research reputation;
- Planning, developing, coordinating, and delivering courses (including classroom teaching) in the areas of sports and esports management at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels; and
- Participating in School/University activities and administration.
Candidates
Candidates should possess the following qualifications, experience and competence:
- An earned doctorate in sports management, or a closely related field (or be near completion at the time of appointment);
- A strong and promising research profile, with evidence of a high level of scholarly achievement. Competitive candidates will typically have publications in leading sport management journals (e.g., Journal of Sport Management, Sport Management Review, European Sport Management Quarterly, International Journal of Sports Marketing and Sponsorship) or journals of equivalent standing;
- A demonstrated strong research pipeline, with ongoing projects and papers under review at leading international journals in sports management and/or related business disciplines (e.g., management, marketing, strategy, human resource management, tourism and hospitality), including journals ranked ABS 3 or above, or equivalent.
- A strong commitment to teaching excellence and the ability to teach in English at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; and
- Strong communication skills and the ability to use English as the medium of instruction.
Terms and Conditions for Appointment
An attractive remuneration package, including basic salary, a composite cash/housing allowance, an end-of-contract gratuity, and a discretionary incentive payment, where applicable, will be offered to the right candidate.
