3) About the role:
The Assistant FP&A Manager, Asia is responsible for delivering high-quality financial planning, analysis, and reporting to support business performance across Export markets and the Asia. The role partners closely with internal stakeholders to drive informed decision-making, strengthen financial governance, and support new market development initiatives.
Reporting to the Head of FP&A, Asia, this role contributes to annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and mid- to long-term business planning, while ensuring timely, accurate, and insightful financial performance analysis. The position requires a strong business partnering mindset, analytical rigor, and the ability to operate effectively within a complex, matrixed regional organization.
The incumbent is expected to demonstrate a hands-on, solution-oriented approach, supporting both routine FP&A cycles and ad-hoc strategic and operational projects as required.
The role will be based in Hong Kong. The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
1. Financial Planning, Forecasting & Performance Management
- Lead and oversee end-to-end financial planning and analysis processes for Export markets, including budget preparation, rolling forecasts, and performance tracking.
- Support the Head of FP&A, Asia in Asia-level FP&A activities, including Asia-wide planning, analysis, and management reporting.
- Monitor actual business performance versus budget and forecast, identifying risks, opportunities, and key performance drivers.
- Prepare timely, accurate, and insightful financial reports and management packs, including variance analysis (Actual vs Budget vs Forecast).
2. Business Partnering & Decision Support
- Act as the primary finance business partner and single point of contact for Export markets. Report to Head of FP&A in case of any irregularities.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial and Supply Chain teams to evaluate business performance, commercial initiatives, and operational efficiencies.
- Develop financial business cases for commercial initiatives and investments, clearly articulating financial impact, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide financial insights to support new market development and expansion initiatives across Export markets and Asia Hub
3. Financial Reporting, Controls & Data Integrity
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data through robust validation and cross-checking processes.
- Conduct regular Accounts Receivable reviews and proactively follow up with Commercial and Supply Chain teams to manage risks.
- Perform balance sheet analysis related to commercial activities and highlight potential financial exposures.
- Work closely with the Shared Service Centre to support month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals and journal entries.
4. Cash Flow, Tax & Governance Support
- Review cash flow forecasts prepared by Shared Services Centre for Commercial & Treasury teams to support liquidity planning.
- Prepare Asia allocation schedules for review by the Tax team.
- Support Shared Services Centre and internal stakeholders during audits and tax computation and filing processes.
- Review Purchase Orders and GL account postings to ensure appropriate classification and compliance with internal controls.
- Review payment runs to ensure accuracy, business alignment, and adherence to approval policies.
5. Process Improvement & Project Support
- Identify and drive ongoing improvements in FP&A processes, reporting efficiency, and data transparency.
- Manage and deliver ad-hoc analysis, management reports, and special projects to meet evolving business needs.
- Support the Head of FP&A, Asia in providing FP&A support to kay markets across Asia, and other new businesses as required.
- Contribute actively to cross-functional initiatives and continuous improvement projects within the Finance function.
4) We might be a potential match if you are/have:
- Degree holder in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline, with a CPA qualification is a plus.
- A minimum 8 years of relevant experience, FMCG/Big4 experience is a plus.
- Solid and strong numeracy skills, problem-solving, excellent attention to detail, and analytical skills with good Excel knowledge
- Strong business acumen and can quickly seize business opportunities.
- Positive and proactive work ethic, with a ‘can do’, solution-orientated attitude, and a good team player with solid intercommunication skills.
- Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic environment, comfortable within a fast-moving, challenging, and deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, analytical & influencing skills with the ability to work with and communicate with Finance and non-Finance stakeholders in a Matrix work environment.
- Action-oriented, result-oriented, and hands-on. High level of sense of urgency and accountability.
- Proficient in MS Excel and PowerPoint. Familiar with SAP system, SAP B1
- Fluent in English and one other local language, both written and spoken.
