Securities Services Technology is a global IT function responsible for the delivery of strategic, regulatory, BAU and service sustaining technology change, as well as the ongoing support of the technology platform supporting the SSv business. SSv IT is a key enabler for the SSv Growth strategy, providing technology programme delivery expertise alongside architecture, development and support for both new and existing platforms.
As part of the Securities Services environment, Fund Accounting and Trustee services a range of international clients. SSv IT provides the technology and solution design capability cross these services to maintain and improve existing services and develop innovative propositions that ensure SSv remains competitive in the market.
The role location is based in Hong Kong. The role reports to the Head of Funds Technology, under the CIO of Securities Services Technology, focusing on the global fund accounting, Middle Office and Trustee platforms and is a Hong Kong SFC regulatory MIC accountable role.
Accountabilities
- Leadership of a multi discipline team circa 150+ FTE across multiple locations.
- Management of technology delivery budget circa 25m USD annually, including major client change pipelines.
- Enabling delivery of SSv strategy through support and delivery of the technology platform.
- Service Management of all SSv Funds systems and platforms owned by the role including delivery of new features and functionality, maintenance, as well as production management, service availability and vendor management.
- Design and lead the Fund Accounting, Middle Office and Trustee technology delivery teams in line with the SSv IT architecture principles.
- Developing relationships with all interested parties within SSv and with our clients.
- Work closely with the Head of Fund Accounting and Trustee Product/Product Delivery and Operations teams to agree priorities for technology and change delivery, to meet business objectives whilst optimising available resources and managing risks to service availability.

- Resource and financial management for the function.
- Collaborate with other delivery teams to ensure optimum deployment of delivery resources.
- Work closely with the Value Stream peers to define a common vision & outcomes plus set OKR’s
- Drive governance that is accountable and meaningful, supporting delivery and aligned with Group practices.

Knowledge, Experience & Communication
Knowledge
- Securities Services business knowledge, specifically Fund Accounting, Middle Office and Trustee a key benefit
- Management of change within an IT environment, large scale budgetary and vendor management
- Change delivery practices including a working knowledge of a range of methodologies e.g. Agile, DevOps, etc.
- An understanding of the product development lifecycle, SDLC’s, Operational Efficiency processes, strategic change management.
- Exposure to AI and the ability to integrate into business and technology environments.
- Knowledge of the Hong Kong SFC MIC regulation requirements.
- Digital Assets knowledge would be of benefit but not essential.
Experience
- Leading, building and motivating large scale high performing teams across multiple geographies and cultures, minimally 15 years’ experience
- Influencing and negotiating at Director and Managing Director level within a similar commercial environment, global and regional, minimally 10 years’ experience
- An innovating thinker in touch with the latest technologies developments and an ability to challenge ways of working and think Agile, DevOps, AI.
- Inspires trust through credibility evidenced via exceptional communication skills both written and verbal.
- Management of vendors and externally hosted platforms on both public & private cloud
- Demonstrates a driven and execution-focused attitude, driving solutions towards closure in an urgent and professional manner.
- Budget and financial management of over 25MM per year, over multiple (5+) budgetary cycles
Communication
- Strong communicator with leadership credentials (leading multi-cultural teams across different time zones).
- Managing and communicating with senior business stakeholders, clients, regulators and technology leadership.
- Experience of managing vendors on complex engagements and assignments.
- Inspires confidence at all organisation levels.
Management of Risk
As MIC, a keen focus on proactive management of risk, both in a delivery and a service management context. Leveraging insight and support from across the business to translate and communicate this risk to the appropriate forums in business terms.
Responsible for the continual assessment of financial, regulatory, reputational and operational risks associated with the role and inherent in the business, taking account of changing economic or market conditions, legal and regulatory requirements, operating procedures and practices, management restructuring and the impact of new technology.
Demonstrates compliance with HSBC Bank plc Group standards, manuals and policies and adheres to the defined work practices, internal controls and risk management standards associated with the role.
Observation of Internal Controls
Maintains HSBC internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit points together with any issues raised by external regulators.
Understands, follows and demonstrates compliance with all relevant internal and external rules, regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business activities associated with the role, specifically HSBC Bank plc internal controls and compliance policies and manuals.
