Position Summary
The Physiotherapist oversees all physiotherapy services within the elderly home, ensuring high‑quality, person‑centred rehabilitation and mobility support for residents. This role provides clinical leadership, supervises therapy staff, coordinates multidisciplinary care, and ensures compliance with regulatory and professional standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Assessment & Intervention
- Conduct comprehensive physiotherapy assessments for new and existing residents.
- Develop individualized treatment plans focusing on mobility, pain management, fall prevention, and functional independence.
- Provide direct physiotherapy interventions, including therapeutic exercises, gait training, balance training, and manual therapy.
- Monitor residents’ progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly.
- Document assessments, progress notes, and outcomes accurately and promptly.
2. Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise physiotherapy assistants and other rehab. assistants.
- Provide coaching, clinical guidance, and performance feedback to therapy staff.
- Oversee scheduling and workload allocation for the physiotherapy team.
- Ensure adherence to professional standards, safety protocols, and ethical practice.
3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Participate in case conferences, care planning meetings, and family consultations.
- Work closely with nursing, social work, and medical teams to ensure holistic care.
- Provide professional input on mobility aids, seating systems, pressure care, and environmental safety.
4. Programme Development
- Design and implement group exercise programmes, fall‑prevention initiatives, and mobility‑enhancement activities.
- Develop rehabilitation protocols tailored to residents, including those with post -operative care, dementia, frailty, stroke, or chronic conditions.
- Introduce evidence‑based practices and new therapeutic approaches.
5. Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure physiotherapy services meet regulatory requirements and internal quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records for audits, inspections, and reporting.
- Monitor equipment safety, maintenance, and procurement needs.
- Participate in risk management, incident review, and continuous improvement initiatives.
6. Training & Education
- Provide training and clinical assessment to care staff on safe transfer techniques, fall prevention, and mobility support.
- Educate residents and families on home exercise programmes and use of assistive devices.
- Support ongoing professional development within the physiotherapy team.
7. Administrative & Operational Duties
- Prepare service reports, statistics, and outcome data for management review.
- Assist in budgeting for physiotherapy equipment and resources.
- Contribute to policy development related to rehabilitation and mobility care.
Working Hours: Full-time: 9:00 am – 6:00 pm (5-day work week; bank holidays)
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy.
- Valid license to practice as a Physiotherapist in Hong Kong.
- Minimum 3 years work experience in physiotherapy, preferably in elderly care or residential care settings.
- Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Commitment to person‑centred care, continuous improvement, and professional ethics.
- Fluent in spoken and written Chinese, English.
