A top-tier fund management platform in Hong Kong with a strong track record in public‑market investments , is looking for a high‑caliber TMT Research Analyst-particularly someone with strong private equity experience in the tech sector who is motivated to grow into a public‑market (secondary market) investing role.

A China‑focused investment management firm founded in 2004 that specializes in hedge fund and private equity strategies. It manages roughly USD 20 billion for both international and domestic investors and has built a strong long‑term performance record. Its funds primarily invest in Greater China equities, including A‑shares, B‑shares, H‑shares, and other regional listings, following a value‑driven, research‑intensive approach. The firm operates out of Shanghai with an additional office in Hong Kong, and its investor base includes global institutions such as sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, and family offices. Over the years, it has expanded into sector‑specific and private‑equity strategies, reflecting its evolution from a hedge‑fund pioneer into a broader multi‑strategy asset manager

Description

1. TMT Sector Research & Idea Generation

Conduct in‑depth fundamental research on companies across the technology, media, and telecommunications sectors.
Build and maintain industry frameworks and competitive landscape analyses to identify long‑term secular trends and market dislocations.
Generate actionable investment ideas for the public equity portfolio, backed by rigorous financial modeling and data‑driven insights.

2. Company Due Diligence & Financial Analysis

Perform deep‑dive due diligence on potential investment targets, leveraging prior private equity experience in evaluating business models, unit economics, and strategic positioning.
Build and update detailed financial models (DCF, comparables, KPI‑driven forecasts) to assess valuation and upside/downside scenarios.
Assess management quality, governance, capital allocation, and risk factors across different TMT subsectors.

3. Monitoring & Portfolio Support

Track portfolio holdings and industry developments, including earnings results, product launches, regulatory changes, and market sentiment shifts.
Prepare research reports, investment memos, and recommendation updates for the investment committee.
Collaborate closely with portfolio managers to refine investment theses and support active portfolio rebalancing.

4. Cross‑Market Insights & Transition from PE to Public Equity

Apply private‑equity‑style due diligence, strategic insight, and operational understanding to the public‑market investment process.
Translate long‑cycle, fundamental investment frameworks into timely secondary‑market opportunities.
Provide differentiated perspectives on late‑stage growth companies, pre‑IPO pipeline, and public‑comparables based on strong PE deal experience.

Profile

Must‑Have

3-7 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, or growth investing with a strong focus on technology / TMT sectors.
Strong fundamental analysis skills, including investment memo writing, due diligence, and deep analytical assessments of business models.
Solid financial modeling capability with high proficiency in Excel and comfort interpreting financial statements and operating metrics.
Strong interest in transitioning into public‑market (secondary market) equity investing.
Curiosity‑driven, highly analytical mindset with a passion for understanding technology trends.

Nice‑to‑Have

Previous exposure to public‑market investing (buy side or sell side) or equity research.
Experience covering software, internet, AI, semiconductors, fintech, or other high‑growth verticals.
Familiarity with alternative data, KPI‑driven valuation, and public‑market catalysts.
Strong communication and presentation skills; ability to articulate investment theses clearly.
